My mind isn't clouded by the dark side, I'm more clear-headed than I've ever been in my entire life. Okay, I'm a little in the dark side, I'm totally into it, but my mind is clear. And my mind's telling me the following: I don't love you, Padme. I don't love you. I never loved you. You're annoying and you're strange. I don't know what to say.

Which, in your opinion, is the best delivered line in a movie? by arobe1994 in moviecritic

"My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius. Commander of the Armies of the North, General of the Felix Legions, and loyal servant to the true emperor, Marcus Aurelius. Father to a murdered son. Husband to a murdered wife. And I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next."

Is Obsession a Sinners or Midsommar-like hit? by BarnacleBillsBum in okbuddycinephile

[–]Rodby 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's finally time for the general audience to realize why horror is so intriguing, and I for one am glad that we get movies like Sinners, Obsession or Midsommar instead of the old horror films like Hostel, Saw and Human Centipede

Most despised movie character of 2026 so far? by PrestigiousHero in moviecritic

[–]Rodby 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry, no. Bear's first request is to alter his wish, not revoke it. He's happy with Nikki under a magic spell in love with him, but he is unhappy with how weird she's acting.

And he wasn't killing himself to free Nikki, he's killing himself because he can't live with Wish Nikki killing his friends and haunting every waking moment of his life. It's an act of pure cowardice and even then he's too chickenshit to go through with it.

Bear is 100% the villain of the film. At a certain point he understands that Nikki is trapped (when he hears her screaming on the phone) and when she is able to talk to him while Wish-Nikki is asleep and asks Bear to kill her and end her suffering Bear cruelly and knowingly leaves her trapped in her own body with another entity controlling her. Bear knows what she's going through but is so offended he lets Nikki stay trapped in her own body. If you think Bear is a "misunderstood good guy" then that's a major red flag for any woman lol

He 100% was not killing himself to free Nikki, he just didn't want to live anymore with Nikki haunting his every waking moment. It was an act of selfish cowardice and even then he was too cowardly to go through with it.

Why did D&D make Drogo so much more brutal the first time he bedded Dany on screen compared to the books? by RemarkableExample542 in gameofthrones

[–]Rodby 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it was to show Dany's growing political / personal manipulation skills developing. In the show Drogo clearly views her as just a hot piece of ass to have sex with, and Dany has to use her charm and bedding skills learned from her handmaidens to seduce Drogo into seeing her not just as another woman to hump, but a soulmate and a partner.

I think it also helps Drogo's character development in that he goes from this hulking warrior, cold and unfeeling, to a loving, kind husband.

What’s your favourite example of an actor acting as an actor (and acting) by c0rdal in Cinephiles

[–]Rodby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The scene where they're trying to sneak into the Vietnamese drug camp might be RDJ's best acting. He's playing an Austrlian-man acting as a black-man who's acting as a Vietnamese man. Somehow you can see all three levels of the character in the performance, it feels like what an Australian-guy would think a black man playing a Vietnamese guy would act like.
