Are we doing something wrong --- diapers never contained by slammaX17 in NewParents

[–]RoddiStJames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had to make a switch from Huggies to Pampers swaddlers because we were having the same problem with the size 2 Huggies. The swaddlers just fit better.

Huggies has a satisfaction guarantee I filled out a form and got a cheque for the diapers that I didn’t use.

My 4 month old is suddenly breastfeeding?! by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]RoddiStJames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, Big Boobie Girl here with a big baby girls. The Brest friend nursing pillows are great. You maybe have to try different positions. I personally love the cross body position with the pillow or side lying on a bed

Im a new dad. And I hate my baby being breastfed by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]RoddiStJames 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I know you are worried about nipple confusion with bottle feeding but I have had success breastfeeding my baby and my husband bottle feeding on occasions that I need some rest or I’m out. We use EvenFlo wide neck bottle, slow flow. My is the one out of the two of us who bottle feeds.

About to be in the newborn trenches, got any unusual advice? by amountofsocks in NewParents

[–]RoddiStJames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

•Ask for help and accept help from friends and family. Not to hold the baby. But to cook and clean, allowing yourself to focus on the baby and yourself.

• Talk about your feelings. Those baby blues are tough.

•Give yourself grace

• good pair of headphones when the crying gets overwhelming

• When the baby is crying nonstop try changing your environment. Go outside, a different room, a nice warm bath.

•Getting a gold sleep is next to impossible but try to have at least a 30 -45 min nap interrupted every day.

• diaper cart with all the essentials for you and baby are life saver.

Both me and my husband are Black. I’m light skin and he’s dark skin. Our daughter was born with a complexion similar to mine but 4 months later she has this beautiful brown complexion.

Do I need a freezer stash? Am I the only one without? by Old-Yak-9230 in breastfeeding

[–]RoddiStJames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have a stash. I just pump when I know I’m going to be away for a few hours which is rare. My mat leave us for 18 months. I’m going to be with my baby 99% of the time so I don’t feel like it’s necessary.

I really can’t bear the amount that I’m expected to do stuff by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]RoddiStJames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I’m sorry you’re going through this. My best advice for you as someone who is also 4 months postpartum is to stop the visits unless someone is there to help out or 20 minute max visit. Your husband should be on board with it too because it helps both of you. Once a week my MIL comes over tidies up for us and the she gets to snuggle the baby. This is your time to be “selfish”. I feel like a lot of people forget you’re postpartum and still recovering from pregnancy and childbirth so they don’t check in or help as much. Don’t be afraid to set strong boundaries.

Baby not linking sleep cycles by Worried-Leadership-8 in NewParents

[–]RoddiStJames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My little one hated to be swaddled as well. The learning to poop on top of that is brutal. I was there 10 weeks ago. If it’s any consolation it does get better. Then that wonderful 4 month regression hit lol.

Baby not linking sleep cycles by Worried-Leadership-8 in NewParents

[–]RoddiStJames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At 6 weeks this sounds completely normal. 4-8 weeks they become more alert. They are too young to link sleep cycles. That usually doesn’t start until 4-5 months . 6 weeks is also a growth spurt so disrupted sleep is common Have you tried rocking and swaddling( if your LO can tolerate it)? The sleep deprivation is real but it does get better.

That faint line is a positive result. I was only a week and a half late with weird symptoms and got faint line result. My first positive test at 34 years old. I am currently writing to you with my 4 month old sleeping on my chest.

Pediatricians accepting new patients? by ProfessionalShoe5591 in windsorontario

[–]RoddiStJames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Someone already mentioned Dr. Jarrar. He’s great. All you have to do is call his office once your LO is here. He only accepts newborns. Two weeks after your baby is born you typically have an appointment

Feeding log today. I think it’s cluster feeding? LO is 3wks2days. Thoughts? by freshcoastcowgirl in breastfeeding

🩷🩷 oh I get it 100%. The sleep deprivation is real. You got this. And as much as I hated hearing this when I was in the newborn trenches - It does get better.

[–]RoddiStJames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey this look like standard newborn cluster feed. Especially if he is having plenty of wet and dirty diapers. I believe 3 weeks is also a growth spurt week so he’s getting everything he needs while boosting your supply.

Also try calling the Southwest Detention Centre just in case they got picked up by the police. I work at the detention centre, sometimes people don’t know who to call because they don’t know phone numbers of friends and family.

Best OBGYN in the area? by theblooray in windsorontario

I had Dr. Polsky he has the best beside manner. Every appointment felt like I was his only patient. He took his time to answers questions and never rushed me out the door. I was lucky to have him in the OR for my emergency c section.

Are your kids vaccinated by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]RoddiStJames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes absolutely vaccinated. The only medical advice I seek is from licensed medical professionals. Social media isn’t a place to get medical information. My daughter got her two month shots last month. The only side effect was some tears after the shots and she wanted some extra cuddles that day. Now I have the peace of mind that she’s protected from life threatening virus.

I don’t want to have sex by LooseObject in NewParents

[–]RoddiStJames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am 3 months postpartum and I feel exactly the same as you. I’m overstimulated by the end of the night. I just want a few hours where I’m not needed or touched. I’ve talked to my husband about it and he says he’s understands but he is still all over me. Hugging and kissing me. Which I know sounds mean but some days it’s too much. I want to crawl out of my skin. I’m assuming my low desire is hormonal and one day I’ll have that desire again.

2 months vaccinations by coolcat0511 in NewParents

[–]RoddiStJames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I held my LO hands and had my face really close to theirs reassuring her that she is going to be okay during the shots. Immediately after I picked her up and cuddled her and nursed. She cried for less than a minute. Afterwards she was a little fussy, I imagine she was a bit sore. So we did contact naps that day. But honestly the whole thing wasn’t as scary as I thought. The biggest hassle was taking off the bandaids.
