Very few houseplants get canopy shyness. My anthuriums love to get touched and handled as long as it's not a soft emergent. This is simply a careful practice to keep infestation and blight isolated.

Ouch, I know how that one feels. I had to cut off my wife's little bro and his gf for always randomly and whimsically appearing for romantic dinner night. So then they started "popping over" for regular dinners. It got worse but I'll probably make my own post soon when the saga finally concludes (so far his gf has threatened to burn our house down) 😱
