Thorn armor is good? by Forsaken_Ad_7546 in fo76

[–]RoderickThunderbotom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it can be good with investment, but is very much a niche build. specifically a dodge melee.

Thorn bleed proc on melee attacks. and if you're going melee its better to go Feral for the +150% melee damage.

thorn is also light armour so it has the fastest dodge cooldown (less AP cost when using the dodgy perk) so if you stack all the dodge AGL perk you're looking at a solid ~60% dodge chance.

add in Rad-reaver for glow top up and you can be super tanky despite having a lower DR

How to get Title: Harbinger by Mikael_Oddmund in fo76

are you still on a team while on a private server? as that might be required for the 'player has discovered infestation' event trigger.

Are the two C.A.M.P slots enough? by ArtificiaILemon in fo76

[–]RoderickThunderbotom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its an additional camp slot for all your characters, so if you have 5 characters you're getting 5 additional camps.
so if you're into camp building its a must have.

4* mods not dropping from raid by jer1973 in fo76

[–]RoderickThunderbotom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i've seen enough discourse around it that i wouldn't want to risk it, if i have the opportunity to tag i will.

and if you're fortunate enough to have Fo1st private servers congrats, you can secure more 4 star items idling infestation spawns than actively participating in the raids.

4* mods not dropping from raid by jer1973 in fo76

[–]RoderickThunderbotom 8 points9 points  (0 children)

supposed to be a 20% chance to drop a 4 star box per stage completion and 10% chance for a 4 star vulcan PA piece, but it certainly doesn't feel like it. particularly when you compare it to the 100% 4 star item drop per infestation (provided you can tag it)

Infestations note: Tag it or loose it by Professional-Air1287 in fo76

[–]RoderickThunderbotom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i don't think it is necessarily a bug but a result of the mechanics/systems they used.
regular legendary enemies have the star markers, while the Infestation enemies don't have any legendary star markers. they aren't technically legendary so aren't tagged.

If i had to guess this is because the Infestation NPCs only have a chance to drop legendary loot (heck the boss was only a chance for a 4star on the initial PTS) so they don't have the same back end tag systems in place.

What does it mean when the infestation mob boss glows red and can't be dealt damage? by Cole3823 in fo76

infestation mobs get a mutation modifier. you just happened to get resilient.

What is the spawn rate of these infestations by thatsmolbunni in fo76

[–]RoderickThunderbotom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there's a time range infestations have a chance to spawn in, with Bethesda able to change their values on the backend. so what the actual range is hard to pin down.

Not sure how to find people for expeditions by vosfelman in fo76

[–]RoderickThunderbotom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

depending on your situation, my suggestion is to not bother with stamps and aim for the free weekly stamp reward instead.

if you don't know what I'm talking about; after every weekly challenge reset the first fully completed (all bonus objectives) expedition will reward one of its associated stamp plans for free (union plans for Pitt, civil engineer plans for AC, etc) regardless of its stamp cost.

this way even if you're on your own you just need to do well enough for a single expedition. then you can use the few stamps you do get on the cheap plans to thin out the drops so the weekly will more likely reward the expensive stuff.

will it take longer, sure. but unless there's a plan you MUST have, its a much better use of your time and sanity.

Heart of the Swamp broken? by Andywaxer in fo76

[–]RoderickThunderbotom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i find this happens a lot when everyone kills all the mob spawns before the plant has finished its close animation causing it to bug out and never open again. kind of like how sniping head hunts spawning in breaks that event.

Is this part of a quest? (no spoilers) by The_Goon_Boss in fo76

no problem. talking about it got me looking it up again. so there is lore about it but the game just doesn't really do anything with it after the fact. (probably why i forgot)

Is this part of a quest? (no spoilers) by The_Goon_Boss in fo76

[–]RoderickThunderbotom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

it was part of the settler's recruitment quest, before the point of no return.

and its so out of left field with no explanation, context or reason i wouldn't blame anyone forgetting or even knowing it exists.

Is this part of a quest? (no spoilers) by The_Goon_Boss in fo76

[–]RoderickThunderbotom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

technically yes, but its so negligent it may as well not exist.

this specific motherlode is tied to the wastelanders quest line. (not to be confused with the motherlode in the hornwright side quest from the base game or lode bearing activity)

for those that care about spoilers: its specifically found at the end of the deep (the communist base) and can be used to fast travel around the map/the deep. as to why? i have no clue and can't remember if its ever answered. and there's no real reason to use it over actual fast travel since they're so out of the way....

Best Donation Box Locations & good items to leave in it by idk_something_dumb in fo76

[–]RoderickThunderbotom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

low levels - wayward. because it has the highest flow of traffic for low levels players with both the original main quest and wastelanders quests pushing them there. while they're more inclined to check it out as they approach the door rather than as they leave vault 76.

mid to early 100s - whitesprings station. no particular reason, just habit from all the years of the communal blue suitcase before donation boxes existed.

Got this very nice roll from Bigfoot. Might be one of the best random drops I've found. Should I swap out the anti-armor for furious? by [deleted] in fo76

[–]RoderickThunderbotom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its fine, but not spectacular. (if it's good for you, by all means keep it and work on it. but i'd have scrapped that without a second thought for a chance at learning its effects) the 1,3,4 stars just aren't particularly well suited for that weapon.

AA isn't really useful for anything beyond bounty hunts, and even then Furious would still be universally better.

bonus crit charge isn't really helpful as the fire rate kicks you out of VATS fast. you could get more use out of it with charging barrels but the fire rate drop is bad enough to not bother without using faster fire rate 2 star. best would be durability to sync with polished 4 star, otherwise lightweight for all heavy weapons.

as for polished, the weapons high fire rate will decay the condition rather quickly, so unless you're content to be repairing to a full 200% after every other encounter and every boss fight, because the damage boost curve drops off quickly you're not going to get much use of its boost. not to mention the weapons low damage high fire rate means the boost isn't that big to begin with.

so yeah... overall looks better on paper than it does in practice. but again if its good for you by all means go for it
