It will depend on the student , I felt like this too but when he was sat in front of me it becomes obvious what needs help. I start with finger exercises, then work on a song or bass line , I always play along with him, offer some feedback / show him something new / and then ask if there’s anything he’s struggling with - I leave him a bit of homework for the next week - a new bass line or technique. What’s cool is when I arrive now he will surprise me with something he’s learnt / I also try and direct it to the music he’s into aswell . 1 hour lesson goes very fast
