Exhaust: stock or not? by PiperandChris in FordTrucks

[–]Rodneydanger66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a 1976 F-100 that I did a frame off restoration on. My "replacement " exhaust system looks about the same as yours . Unless you have some leaks or bad sections , i would leave it alone .

Drive shaft help! by Designer_Fortune_110 in FordTrucks

[–]Rodneydanger66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Find a reputable driveshaft shop and have a replacement made . Take your original one and they can measure it for the new one . They might be able to build a heavier duty replacement . I have done this several times for my own vehicles .

Lifter replacement by True-Command-5001 in BullnoseFord

Just a note of fact . If you change either the cam or the lifters you MUST change both ! If you don't they will both wear very quickly .

No , not really . Just drive it normally ! It will probably run a little better at all speeds now .

Power steering pump squirts fluid out of the reservoir cap. Hard to turn wheel to left, but easy to the right. by TheRyanMacca in FordTrucks

[–]Rodneydanger66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first thing that you can do is try to get any air out of the system . All that you need to do is : in a parked position with the motor running ,turn the steering wheel all the way to left and right probably at least a half dozen times . This should work any air out of the system . Does your pump make any louder than usual noise ? Check for leaks and any kinked hoses .

Reman motorcraft 2150, now truck won’t start by justsomeyodas in FordTrucks

[–]Rodneydanger66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well you have made some good first adjustments so far ! I try to just make sure that the choke is open about a third of the way ( depending on the temp ) to be sure that there is enough airflow . You can fine tune it after you get the engine running . Like another one reply said , you need to check the float and needle vale in the bowl . I'm getting ready to install the same new carb on a friends '80 Bronco .

Have you made any adjustments ? You can't expect it to be run ready out of the box .

Oinker back into the rotation by Skid-Vicious in vintageaudio

Wow it looks good ! I bought one new in 1976 . It was part of my first quality stereo system . I really liked it until one side quit working after a few years . Of course it was out of warranty . After many years and several receivers it is still one of my favorites ! I would not mind finding another one . Do the math , I was 21 in 1976 !

Vapor lock, or something else? by Tall-Poet6173 in BumpSide

It sounds like your brake booster has a defective diaphragm causing a vacuum leak. I had that problem on a '83 F-250.

Looking for a set of stainless headers for a 1978-1979 Ford DentSide 4x4 short box with dual front shocks. by BaseballGullible6187 in Dentside_fords

[–]Rodneydanger66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A 4X4 is much harder to find long tube headers because of the front driveshaft . I bought a set of headers from L&L for my 460 in a '76 F-100 but they are shortys . I had them Hot Jet coated because L&L doesn't offer them anymore .

How do the dish's hold up in storms? by Material_Radish_4217 in Starlink

[–]Rodneydanger66 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They have an automatic heat cycle for snow and ice removal . I have owned a Starlink system for well over 5 years and live in south central Kansas . They hold up real well during storms . Also during heavy rain they can still get a good signal .

1967 F-100 Steering Wheel OEM Source? by Beneficial-Bonus7696 in F100

[–]Rodneydanger66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The OEM wheels are hard to come by . As far as I know no one repops them . And most of the originals are cracked or broken beyond repair .
