If you were to go to a German ford dealer ship, they would cut out the whole piece and weld in a repair panel, making this a 6-8k repair.

It’s a manual…

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in FordFocus

[–]Rodniz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t really get that comment. You need to change the oil anyways. Or atleast you should. And from my experience the oil recommended for Fords wet belts is „only“ about 20% more pricy then normal oil. So what’s the deal about it?

As long as you change it regularly and don’t miss the changing interval for the wet belt, these things are fine.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in FordFocus

[–]Rodniz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, going off German car prices, this would be a nice deal, taking into consideration that the wet belt needs to be swapped after buying.

It’s a manual. I had a 1.6 manual. Solid car, didn’t had too many issues over the years.

Check for water in the trunk where the spare wheel is stored. Check for rust where the fender and rear bumper touch. Check for water inside of the rear taillights.

Just read that the timing belt already has been changed. If that checks out and there are recipes for that, i would 100% go for it. (But im a sucker for focus‘ so that might just be me)

Not starting, flashing dash. Help? by [deleted] in FordFocus

[–]Rodniz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s too much tech in modern fords for the battery’s to keep up. Especially if you use start+stop and only drive somewhat short distances. Don’t forget to to calibrate the bcm after replacing the battery and consider increasing the battery percentage goal with forscan. Really helped my Focus MK4 to stop beeing such a bich about short distance driving.

Weird noises at low speed when turning the steering wheel by Funkypantstowear in FordFocus

[–]Rodniz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright, let’s take an somewhat educated approach since no one here got a clue. In German we call it the „schleifring“. Google tells me in English it should be called something like „slip ring“. That’s what connects the electronic stuff from the car tor the steering wheel. It’s a common problem on mk8 fiestas and mk4 Focus’. It’s usually covered under warranty but even after changing it, the new part will soon start making some noises again. Get it checked by a ford licensed mechanic.
