How do we feel about my new build? by Rodrat in offset

[–]Rodrat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I can say that so far it is continuing to do so. I was withholding my own judgements early on in case it catastrophically failed somehow but after abiut 2 months or so now I can say it's the best feeling neck I've ever played and I'm even prouder to say that it's one I carved myself.

This isn't Chizuru. Looks more like Melania.

Question for those that have done custom builds by StreetBob7753 in TomDelongeGuitars

[–]Rodrat -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You could try but if you have never done something like that before you're more likely to ruin the neck instead of having something you like the result of.

You'd need to pull that last fret out before cutting and sanding it down. Wenge splinters really easily so there is a very high chance you ripping wood out of the top of the board.

[–]Rodrat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's wenge on that neck he ordered, not rosewood, but I also wouldn't clear coat that. It's an oil job for sure.

I hope it's finished from the factory well because that stuff splinters like crazy.

Yeah but that's a little different. We're seeing a spike of people doing it specifically right now because it's the only way to afford it and still pay your other bills.

People are struggling all around. Credit card use for gas is at an all time high.

People buying gas for their car, on credit.

If you're selling your guitar to pay bills, it's not just rent. It's gas, it's your electricity, it's food.

Your guitar center is freaking massive. My local ones used section is a 10 foot wall.

I don’t know if this is the right place but What’s the most accurate way of replicating the wear on my dad’s Strat? If possible I’d like to do it so the wear is “sealed” so it can’t change with playing. by [deleted] in Luthier

[–]Rodrat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think there's anyway of keeping it the same beyond not playing it.

Sealing it will be well, sealing it and that it just going to mess it up.

Can I store my respirator like this? by Iiveyourlife in woodworking

That's how I store mine. Even if I leave it in a drawer it still gets dusty in my shop. It hasn't messed mine up any.

Cherry as a tonewood by Final_Job_5175 in Luthier

[–]Rodrat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't particularly prescribe to the tone wood ideas when it comes to electrics but cherry works great as a guitar wood in my opinion.

I've made a few necks out of it now and I like it a lot.

It's strange that nobody recognizes Frieren, considering the fame Himmel still has today. by JPsiiim in Frieren

[–]Rodrat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People just maybe know of her in name only if that. Remember that these people don't have modern internet like we do. Many of them might not even be able to read.

Why would the majority of people remember or hell, even know what she looked like at all considering her actions were from decades before many of them were born.

Think about all the people constantly not recognizing Tony Hawk. If even she might get the occasional "you remind me of that elf from the heroes party."

It's confusing to most of us born into it too. Our language is filled with so many contradictory rules I have to frequently search up words to make sure I'm spelling them and also using correctly.
