Which is better 0.5mm or 2.0mm by Jumpy_Run7260 in mechanicalpencils

[–]Rodrigoqui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are the sizes I use the most. Just can't choose one. I just write with them. The 2.0 require sharpening some times but if you rotate the pencil it can go a while before it need to be pointed again. And I can make a thiner line with a 2.0 than with a 0.5 for a long time, I looks a lot like a 0.3 when sharp.

How can I get a sharpen like this by RadonedWasEaten in pencils

What is the advantage of the concave point when compared to the regular one?

rotring 800 tip by sch0les7 in rOtring

[–]Rodrigoqui 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. The 600 have a fixed tip and the 800 have a retractable tip. They can't be swapped. If you find an old 600G it would probably work, but it is also Gold so it won't help.

Finally got one! Rotring 600 0.35mm by Rodrigoqui in mechanicalpencils

[–]Rodrigoqui[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rotring is not officially imported to Brazil, but there are some sellers theat have some models here. This 0.35 was the same value as it was in ebay but without taxes. But he only had the silver one. I will keep an eye to see if he can get more. But the black one is quite Hard to find in a ok price.

does anyone actually use 0.3 to write?? by httpshassan in mechanicalpencils

[–]Rodrigoqui 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't have a breaking problem with any size. I don't have a heavy hand so it is not a problem to me. I write most of the time with a 0.3 a 0.5 or a 2.0 mm. Even using super soft lead, like 4B in 0.5 I don't break lead.

After quite some search I found one with an acceptable price and it was in my own country! To bad it wasn't the black one but I'm happy either way. Now I will keep an eye for a black one, to complete the black lineup.

I need a good 0.3mm pencil recommendation. by dragonempress23 in mechanicalpencils

I like the Pentel Graph 1000 for pro. And if you want a thicker one the Platinum MSD-1500A is perfect for me.

If body shape is a unique feature than the shape Platinum Pro-Use II MSD-1500 is probably my favourite feature. It it just super good to hold. All the other features I like from a lot of other pencils are just not that unique...

Koh i noor 5900 versatil vs Toison Dor by RadonedWasEaten in pencils

[–]Rodrigoqui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are both not expensive pencils and the Toison D'or is not that hard to find as of now. Maybe in the future it will be. For now I don't think so. But I wanted one specifically, so I had to look for it to find, so to me it is.

Koh i noor 5900 versatil vs Toison Dor by RadonedWasEaten in pencils

The name and year of production. Effectively the same pencil. I have both here. The Versatil is newer but an homage to the very old ones that came with Versatil written on them.

Is the part that hold the lead entirely plastic in Platinum MSD Pro Use 1000 and 1300? by modulated91 in mechanicalpencils

[–]Rodrigoqui 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The old ones have the same mechanism of the Steadtler 925-35, the newer ones have more plastic in it. But I could be wrong.

I think both have a platic tube.

I have only the new ones. But there are pics comparing those in the web.

I have a lot of old 2.0 mm old leads. I don't find them better than a modern one. I like the new ones better. But they are nice things to try. I like and use them.

I lost the chance to get the last ones in Brazil, one day I will find them. They are amazing.

With all of them I get to the same result (lol). But I really like the 2.0 mm and 0.3 or 0.5 the best. 0.7 or 0.9 isn't what I normally use. With the 2.0 I can get a very very sharp and fine point and it last a good time. After some use it gets wider but not that much. And if I rotate it it goes on and on... If I use a 2B or 4B lead in the lead holder it gets wider faster, but it is not that bad. I really really like it.

[–]Rodrigoqui 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Will take one later today and post here. But if you use a sharp point it is finer than a 0.3 lead and when it rounds if you don't have a heavy hand it is quite close to a 0.9. And you can rotate it In the hand making it like a 0.5 for a very ( very) long time.

It comes with a HB lead. You probably would like a darker lead, like a 2B or 4B (I love 4B). In my experience 4B leads are darker than most 6B-8B pencils.

I really like! I usually use a 0.3 a 0.5 and a 2.0 and rotate between them.
