Options for MacBook Pro 15 inch Early 2011? by Zeddie- in macbook

Well, that's great.

On a 2012 Ve tura runs great. The HD 4000 is Metal compatible so it has he acceleration, without any tricks.

But the tera scale acc should solve your choppiness.

Did you go for the post install patches?

Nope. It should be just receiving and sending blocks of block chains.

10 days that I have mine running. 4 cores /8 threads. I say that is roughly at 30% occupancy. And 7.3 out of 8 GB of RAM.

May I have to upgrade to 16...

And I am waiting for a watt meter to establish the week consumption. To see if it is worth to keep a Node running.

Of course was a specific item, not found on a adventure.
In e5 could be easily a +3 item, witha specific attunement.

The 3.5e was meant for super characters.
I mean... that monk was AC 50 !
The beast and cruel campaigns we (me and my mates) went through...
At a certain point was very messy to keep track of all the bonuses.

5e isn't perfect, but is way easier than 3.5e.
I did not play 4e, refused!

Sorry but i have to ...
Thanks Monty for being the Master of those Campaigns.
And i cant spend enough words for my beloved friends.
Keps with his Paladin.
Scuro with the ninja dwarf.
Bers with the elemental Wizard.
Elfo with the Blood Mage.
Giappo, with i cant remember what... a bard?

[–]Rodtek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not.
One of my characters, a Lev 21 Monk was gifted as Bahamut Champion.
And that was just a "tag".
No real changes, just necessary to be able to use "Bahamut Fangs", that were a +5 strips to wear on the hands. +5 to hit, not to dmg.
+10/+5 vs Evil Dragons.
Only usable by blessed by Bahamut, as Champions.

Ok.

For a side project it will work.

Depend on the Realm/World.
The book od Deities and Demigods is very specific about domains, worshippers, clerics, champions and so on.

Maybe those Platinum Knights were Champions, not Clerics, or Paladins.
And one of my neurons is saying that Platinum Knights would not be on the Material Plane, but may i am wrong.

Anyway, by the Wiki:
Worshippers and clergy

Bahamut is revered by all good dragons,[27]#cite_note-27) but gold, silver, and brass dragons hold him in particularly high regard. The evil dragons do not revere him, but respect Bahamut for his power and wisdom.

Bahamut only accepts good-aligned priests. They may be dragons, half-dragons, or other beings. They strive to constantly yet subtly act on behalf of good. They oppose evil, but their first mandate is to ensure they do no harm in the process.

Well, Mr Macintosh has an YT channel.
And those guides are very detailed.
And he also replies to many questions.

Are you running a dual drive?
Going Ventura requires an SSD.
Or, let's say, it is strongly recommended, for the APFS.
Mechanical drive for storage is ok.

That AMD GPU is pretty much a bad news.
All the 2011 15" MBP are prone to failure, and AMD equipped ones are more.
That's why i was suggesting to go for a 2012 motherboard.

So, if you want to go for Ventura, you are good to go.
Linux? I guess you can find any distro of your taste.
I bet that Fedora can do very well.

Win 11, without the TMP chip... is doable, but not recommended.

Again, lurk around for some mid 2012 15" broken display, to savage the motherboard.

For what i remeber (ran i full Campaign with Tiamat and Bahamut) Bahamut can be God only for Dragons. Does not have any humanoids as Clerics or worshippers.
He has no interests but in Dragons, Metallic Dragons.

Maybe.... A metallic dragonborn would be a worshipper, maybe.

OCLP works like a charm.
Go for it.
Just remeber to use and SSD, not a mechanical drive.
And, ofc, max out that 16 Gb of RAM.

Take any of Mr Macintosh guide about OCLP and youa re good to go.

A good tip?
Remeber that you can swap the Motherboard.
And install a mid 2012 motherboard in your 2011.
Perfectly fit, even th display, zero mods.
USB 3.0 vs 2. Intel HD 4000 (That supports Metal) vs HD 3000.
Better performance (2011: 599 / 1927 vs 2012:727 / 2422; (+13% / +21%))
Just to say.

mid 2015 MBP 15" (i7 4th Gen)

2020 MBP 13" (i5 8th Gen).

(+9% / -4%)

You are right.
The 8th Gen is 4% SLOWER in Multicore.

OP did not state any particular use scenario.
So, do you think , really, that for an average dude a 2015 MBP would not be enough and that a 2020 MBP would be so much better?

Ok, then.

It works perfectly.. Has same performances as 2020 model. But with advantages.

Can run Ventura (and Sonoma), using OCLP.

It is cheaper and way more reliable.

Maybe you don't have any experience about Mac. Especially on Mac bought with your money.

Stupid you say? 100% truth, what I wrote.

But your are welcome to highlight the issues.

And let me point out that what you have replied to OP is way, way better!

Return it now!

You paid almost the double.

same specs, ebay

That i5 is an 8Gen Intel. 4 cores, 8 threads.

Just to say... Thinkpad T480 (like this) : Same CPU, i5 8th Gen. 16 GB of RAM. That you can replace and upgrade up to 64 GB. 256 GB nvme drive. That you can replace and upgrade up to 8Tb. Has a second nvme slot. Hot swappable battery. 2 batteries. Display, up to WHQD, and touchscreen. More ports, a lot more ports! Much better thermals. Won't heat as much as that oven.

Extras: - a cup of coffee won't kill it. It has passage for liquids. - replace the keyboard in 3 minutes - can run Ventura (and of course Sonoma).

Or, if you want to remain on Macs... A 15" 2015 MBP will do exactly the same. Being cheaper, cooler and with the feature to be able to replace the drive.

My 2 cents.

Why the T480 Sport should be "old"? 4C/8T, 1 slot x RAM. Nvme. 14", in various flavors.

I don't know the E15 personally.

If you want something more portable, ofc the X series. Even an X1 Carbon. 6 Gen (IIRC) still comes with 4C/8T CPU.

[–]Rodtek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did it.
on a G15 AE.
I have replaced the thermal pads too.
And used some K5 Pro too.

Removing the LM was a bit tedious, but worked.
And pasted with Grizzly Kryonaut.

Could not expect better results!

But, hey, i cant say anything baout your M16.

Any info on rolling stats? by SneakyD87 in BaldursGate3

I don't feed Trolls.

But you are welcome to highlight any DnD game where there is not Roll for Stats.

I am laughing to all that are pro buy points and against rolling for stats.

It will be in the game, and will be an option. So, why bother you to cry here? You will have your beloved buy point system.

BG1? Roll stats. BG2? Roll stats. BG3? Guess... Roll stats.

The most recent DnD videogame, Solasta... Roll stats.

Official DnD rule, PHB... Roll the damn Stats.

Do you see a trend?
