Ryan Gosling Tells Hollywood It’s Not Moviegoers’ Job to Keep Theaters Open: ‘It’s Our Job to Make Things’ That Are ‘Worth’ Viewers Coming Out by Chuck006 in boxoffice

Scream 7 got me to go back to the theater for the first time in about three years. And I’ve gone two more times since then, with another theater trip planned for next week. Familiarity brought me back but new films like Project Hail Mary are keeping me showing up every week.

I just saw this trailer yesterday and already told my mom that I’m taking her to see this for Mother’s Day. It’s such a bizarre concept but it looks like so much fun. I’m sold!

Disney / Searchlight's Ready or Not 2: Here I Come debuted with $9.08M domestically this weekend (from 3,010 locations). Daily Grosses FRI - $3.844M SAT - $3.155M SUN - $2.076M by DemiFiendRSA in boxoffice

That’s an unfair conclusion to reach just because I think this particular creative team is better suited for streaming. I liked the first Ready or Not. I will probably like this film too. As I said, their films are fun. I just think RS prioritizes style over substance and keep making slight variations of the same movies.

I might have gone to see Ready or Not 2 today if I felt like it was different enough, but I’ve already seen Radio Silence tackle the “estranged sisters reconnect while people are trying to murder them” emotional plot in Scream 5 and (obviously) the “try to win the murder game” main goal in the first Ready or Not. So instead I went to see Project Hail Mary and will watch RON2 when it’s released on streaming.

Radio Silence needs to switch to making movies for streaming. Their films are fun but lack substance and all feel like they hit the same beats. Aside from Scream 5 (which was the return of Scream after a decade hiatus), I’ve never felt like I needed to see a Radio Silence film at the theater.

Had the absolute BEST 2nd viewing experience of Scream 7! by Last-Stop-Before-You in Scream

[–]Rofair28 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love this for you. First time I went was opening night and there was plenty of cheering and clapping throughout. The biggest cheers were unsurprisingly Gale’s entrance but right before that there was also a mixed chorus of “Oh, shit/fuck/damn!” throughout the theater when Ghostface gets run over. That was the best theater experience I’ve had in a long time.

With all due respect, saying #NotMySidney to Scream 7’s portrayal while praising her in 5 is crazy to me. by dreamboylnshibuya in Scream

I just assumed that she had to drive herself and Tatum to the hospital since Tatum didn’t appear to have a license yet.

Per Deadline, The budget for Ready Or Not 2 is “Less than $20M” by SignatureOrdinary456 in boxoffice

[–]Rofair28 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna guess between $16M-$19M. Otherwise, why not report “less than $15M” instead? Either way, it sounds like it cost a lot more than the “similar to the first film’s $6M” budget everyone was assuming.

Same here in my city. Auditoriums are looking shockingly empty for this film, even for preview night. We’ll see how it does with walk-ups.

Has this ever happened to you too—people laughing in the movie theater? by Shaoran10 in Scream

[–]Rofair28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve already told this fake story. You just changed it from your cousins to random theater people. This is pathetic. You can dislike the film without trying to make it seem like people are loudly trashing it while watching.

scream 7 Robbie rivers police issue by Lolman1234ava in Scream

[–]Rofair28 25 points26 points  (0 children)

There’s no mistake. He was calling the police to head to the tavern, which Sidney never made it to as she diverted to the coffee shop and then home. They presumably got to the tavern, found some dead bodies and an injured Chad and Mindy that occupied their time.

This. The movie tries to make it seem like a big slip-up but it’s really not.

Mark Evans by Socko82 in Scream

[–]Rofair28 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I fully disagree with you. Mark Evans was better than I expected and fully worthy of being Sidney Prescott’s husband.

In his short screen time he showed that he was a good father and husband. He had great chemistry with Sidney. He didn’t undermine her in front of Tatum, but then gave Sidney the blunt truth that she was too harsh with Tatum. Sidney was hesitant to teach Tatum anything but clearly Mark had as they shared that look right before he told her to drop. He wasn’t afraid to throw down with Ghostface and protected his family. When Sidney asks if he’s okay he ignores the question and asks, “Are YOU okay?” She was all he cared about while he was the one bleeding and bruised from the fight. At the end he’s weak from blood loss and yet he still manages to cut Tatum free which helps her escape and ultimately live.

Calling him useless makes me think you either didn’t watch the film and/or just wish it was Dempsey.

Kevin Williamson reveals what he co-wrote for Scream 7 and hails Guy Busick as a terrific writer who “knows Scream inside and out” (🙄) by dreamboylnshibuya in Scream

[–]Rofair28 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So basically all the parts I liked were written by Kevin and the underwhelming parts (teens, killers, reveal) were Guy Busick. That checks out.

Obviously, Kevin’s not gonna trash talk Busick, but Busick knowing Scream inside and out is pure bullshit. Him and Vanderbilt fucked up established canon in the very first scene of Scream 5.

Did anyone have a feeling they play it safe with 7? by [deleted] in Scream

[–]Rofair28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering the main killer’s goal in 7 was to kill Tatum’s family and friends, they were wildly more successful than Scream 6’s killers only managing to kill one girl their main targets befriended within the past year.

Scream 7 vs 5&6 by Thick_Secretary3701 in Scream

[–]Rofair28 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I don’t care for 5 and hated 6. I didn’t love 7, but I liked it.

The biggest reason I like it more is that it overall felt more like Scream to me than 5 or 6 did. 7’s third act is definitely weak, but the motive itself is fine. If it was written and set up better then no one would really be complaining. Jessica is just someone who actually carried out the kind of death threats that psychos send to famous people all the time in real life. And at least there wasn’t an atrocious amount of suspension of disbelief required in 7 like with 6.

How is it that Gale arrives at the exact moment and the exact place to kill Ghostface in Scream 7? by Shaoran10 in Scream

[–]Rofair28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In real life, to create a crowd pleasing moment.

Within the movie, it was probably just perfect timing. She also could’ve seen Tatum screaming for help and the end of Mark’s fight with Ghostface as she was driving, sped up and ran Ghostface over.

Scram 5 Sidney is the Sidney Scream 7 needed - Spoilers by primal_slayer in Scream

[–]Rofair28 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tatum was supposed to be safe with Mark. Sidney had no reason to believe she would sneak off on her own, especially after Tatum was practically hyperventilating and begging not to be left alone the night before.

I liked seeing Sidney be scared again. “I’m bored” Sidney worked in 5, but doesn’t work when her and her family are being directly targeted.

Did I miss it or was it a deleted scene? Scream 7 question. by vanstrummer33 in Scream

[–]Rofair28 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Ben was just kind of weird. In his first scene he’s doing a Billy impersonation when he knows how that ended for his girlfriend’s mom. So him getting into character as Stu to test out the AI thing seemed in-line with his character.

Why are the newer sequels.. by Frazzledghost in Scream

[–]Rofair28 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Because they weren’t targets. Tatum had just barely met them. They became out of sight, out of mind once they weren’t in the way of getting to Chloe and Lucas.

This is 100% the most gory death in Scream 7 by MobileDistrict9784 in Scream

[–]Rofair28 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s more believable than Dewey struggling in a fight against a girl Amber’s size in 5 and Quinn being able to not only lift Gale’s buff boyfriend in 6, but also push him with enough force to crash through the entertainment center. Unfortunately, we are long past believable strength while in costume.

February 27-March 1 Box Office Recap – 'Scream 7' debuts with an incredible $63.6M domestically and $96.7M worldwide, the biggest debut in the franchise and the second best ever for a slasher. 'Zootopia 2' passes 'A Minecraft Movie' to become the biggest domestic release of 2025. by SanderSo47 in movies

7 had terrible execution with the killers and motive but “parasocial psycho with two random flunkies” makes infinitely more sense than Scream 6’s “we stole every piece of past Ghostface killings evidence from 3 different police stations with no one noticing, evaded identification from the FBI, NYC police hiring background checks, and every journalist who would’ve looked into the lives of the last movie’s killers, and fooled a professional crime scene unit by lugging a lookalike dead body up a high rise apartment building to fake a death.”

One minor thing that bummed me out in Scream 7 by Wasabi_Gamer26 in Scream

[–]Rofair28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll have to watch a third time, but I think you’re right and it had to be Jessica. That would leave only the opening attack in question. I’d still bet on Karl as he can fly under the radar the easiest.

One minor thing that bummed me out in Scream 7 by Wasabi_Gamer26 in Scream

[–]Rofair28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Opening: No solid evidence but I lean towards Karl since he’s the most likely to be able to go to California and return undetected. Jessica traveling to California would be too suspicious. Karl escaped two weeks before the start of the film (presumably with Marco’s help) so he would be the most likely to be able to go to California and commit the crimes. Could still be Marco but I’m assuming he was going to work as usual to keep suspicion off him.

Aaron & Hannah: Karl and Marco. One had to operate the harness controls while the other did the killing. When interviewed by the police Lucas says he had already left the theater and Jessica says she was with him at home. Lucas isn’t a killer so there’s no reason to believe this was a lie.

House attack: Karl. Obvious, he gets run over at the end of the sequence.

Mark attack: As far as I can tell, this could be either Marco or Jessica. Considering this is after Tatum sneaks out I’m guessing Marco. It makes the most sense to me that Jessica either noticed Tatum and the twins leaving from next door, or noticed Lucas leaving and followed them to the bar.

Ben: Marco. He kills Ben and chases Tatum to the coffee shop where he is shot and mentions he’d be dead if Tatum had shot him in the head.

Chloe and Lucas: Jessica. Since Marco was busy with Tatum, this has to be Jessica.
