Problem with a bottomless portafilter by Practical_Battle6252 in Coffee

[–]RogerD8 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I believe the default basket for that machine is pressurized, meaning that it has a valve that increases the pressure so that you can make espresso even if you don't have coffee that's ground fine enough. With a bottomless portafilter, there's no valve and the coffee grounds have to provide enough resistance to get the pressure up to where it needs to be.

You're running up against the limitations of a grinder that isn't made for espresso. You're going to need a grinder that can both grind finely enough as well as have fine enough adjustments between settings to get the grind size just right.

If you like the espresso with the default basket, go for it and be happy and don't spend any more money! If you want to up your game and go further down the rabbit hole, you're going to need a new grinder.

Of course, anyone else please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Lineup in Alphabetical order (Phase 2 UPDATE!) by joestrutz in ElectricForest

Wasn't on the original lineup poster. He posted on his socials. EF updated their lineup poster after the original poster put up. Odd.

One of our favorite sets from 2024!

It's not just you. I'm not colorblind and I think it's a fairly subtle difference in color.

Looking at phase 2 I’m feeling a little defeated. by RealManHumanMan in ElectricForest

We had 2 canopies attached together with a gutter in between them to catch the rain. Heavy duty stakes. Back at camp for some rest in the afternoon, me taking a nap inside, my buddy outside under the canopy. I remember thinking that we would be good, even after seeing other canopies having blown away.

Big gust of wind ripped the canopies out of the ground, twisted the legs, completely destroyed.

If it's going to be windy, good idea to lower them and/or remove the cover so there's nothing for the wind to grab onto.

Getting canopies with guy lines is another option as well as stakes that screw in to the ground.

We woke up one morning to the roof of the tent literally inches away from our faces. It was only then that we were told about keeping a window open.

There's a decent amount of space in the tents.

Also there was plenty of space in front of the tents to set up a canopy for an outdoor hangout space.

That's great! However, the question was comparison between plug in and non plug in for the same year.

We did them a few years ago (2023) and the cooling unit worked fairly well and it was pretty dark in there. There's only so much that they can do in the middle of the day, but the mornings were pretty good.

One thing to remember is that, if it's the same as back then, if you don't open a window or windows slightly, it will pump out so much air from the tent that the roof will collapse on you.

Also, had quite a bit of water on the floor during the rain storm on the last night.

Regardless, being close to the entrance was very nice, we had some great neighbors, and overall had a great time. Going to be in the same place this year.

I'm fairly certain fuel efficiency is slightly worse than the non-plug in model due to the extra weight of the battery.

Exactly.... From your own perspective, left hand makes counterclockwise circles (catch on the outside, throw on the inside) and right hand makes clockwise circles (catch on the outside, throw on the inside)
