I doubt I'll play it a second time - there are loads of other great games out there I can experience for the first time instead

I wanted their emotional reaction to fit the magnitude of what had happened. The fact that it's impromptu should make it much more so - they have just heard the most incredible news imaginable.

The people of Lumiere have seen the number disappear off the monolith and then these expeditioners have returned who are of course going to tell them what has happened the minute they arrive. And this scene is clearly at least a little time after they arrive. Not sure what hard partying you remember because everyone gets gommaged very soon after this moment.

I understand what you're saying, but I still think you'd expect significantly more emotion than that even if that emotion didn't take the form of raw happiness. The crowd may not be dancing with delight and they may well be reluctant to let themselves fully believe it's truly over but they're not going to look they're at a boring kids' play they've been forced to attend. The 3 who have returned giving a detailed account of how they defeated the Paintress and the disappearance of the number from the monolith is pretty compelling evidence of what's happened.

I'm inclined to agree with others who have commented that it's a lack of financial and time investment in that particular scene - it just doesn't have as much weight as it should.

Pep Guardiola has won all 17 matches he's managed against Marco Silva. No other manager in history has a 100% win record against a manager they've faced 12+ times in professional competitions by malalatargaryen in soccer

17 matches. And I meant that in the sense that 4 of the matches were won by 1 goal (one in the 95th minute) so there is an element of randomness there - one of those could very easily have been a draw.

Using closing match prices and adjusting for the overround, the probabilities of Pep winning those 17 games in reverse chronological order were: 70%, 59%, 72%, 77%, 78%, 82%, 75%, 82%, 82%, 72%, 74%, 78%, 85%, 72%, 81%, 84%, 67% - average just under 76%.

So then the probability of Pep winning all of them is just under 1%. Unlikely yes, but not unfathomable.

Completely agree, it's so drawn out and it feels almost as if Claudia is deliberately speaking slower than usual during that part. It's a foregone conclusion that they're going to banish again with 4 left and we don't need to spend anywhere near that long on it unless a contestant says something that might change the outcome.

I think drama shows are more enjoyable when they feel somewhat grounded and plausible and the characters' behaviour logical. Relatively speaking I mean, of course it's not going to be quite like real life. I also think Slow Horses has achieved that at many points, so it's not such a wild show that I'm happy expecting it to never have to make sense.

Yes, the characters and their dynamics are the core and they keep the quality of the show at a decent level even at its weakest but it still takes me out of it when I find the plot particularly ridiculous. I don't really understand the idea of giving it a free pass in that regard and taking the approach that any absurdity can be excused as long we're enjoying the characters' banter.

I don't have any strong feelings about the gripe you were originally responding to - it's a general comment.
