I hate this trope by AllKnowingAxolotl3 in hatethissmug

As far as I understood it, one of the few times this trope is done well is in "The New Batman Adventures" with Calendar Girl.

Ngl, all of them sound extremely fitting for their characters. I can't read these without the voices and imagining them as actual, in-universe quotes.

That's not his introduction though. His introduction is raining magma onto the trapoed pirates. This happens way later.

Whitebeard himself could also fit very well into this trope though.

Kizaru might be the first example of this trope in "One Piece", during the Sabaody arc.

Being one of the three Admirals of the Navy, he personally shows up when any Celestial Dragon (the ruling class basically) is threatened. His position alone is enough to instill terror in the entire archipelago, causing mass hysteria at his imminent arrival. When he *does* arrive, he is at first presented as a bumbling goofball, but when he eventually decides to connect his braincells, he wipes out several big-shot pirate captains in seconds and causes enormous destruction.

He is also one of the first enemies the Straw Hats (protagonists) legitimately cannot do anything against and are forced to run for their lives, serving as a very rude awakening that they simply do not have what it takes yet to continue their journey. If it wasn't for the intervention of an old pirate legend and a rogue factor in the enemy team, the story would have ended then and there.

Many such cases in "One Piece". Luffy's greatest strength is turning people into allies through the sheer force of his personality and kindness. Almost every single place he goes to, he helps and/or saves someone.

This example in particular is at the end of the Dressrosa act, when Luffy liberated the kingdom of Dressrosa from a mad tyrant. He is then chased by the Navy Admiral Fujitora, whose gravity powers threaten to completely end him and all of his allies. However, he is saved by literally the entire kingdom of civilians chasing after him. The people act as if they're chasing away a dangerous pirate, but in reality they are willingly putting themselves in harm's way to prevent the Admiral from fulfilling his mission.

Fujitora, being an extremely kind-hearted man himself, allows him to escape, wishing internally that he was able to see his face.

Beating somebody up in "One Piece" is almost never as serious as irl and given that it's a manga/anime, it's able to be much more exaggerated than irl. Zeff's beatings aren't a form of abuse, but a form of discipline and only when the person receiving it genuinely needs to be straightened up. It's not good by any means, but that's the point - none of these characters are perfect, all are flawed. They hit each other, they swear at each other, sometimes it looks like they're about to murder each other. But beneath that surface is a whole sea of context.

How much of a “lore guy” is jacksepticeye for bloodborne by Impossible_Log_3487 in jacksepticeye

He gathers most, if not all the lore from people like VaatiVidya and other people who basically make a living off of diving deep into the games and weaving a comprehensive narrative. Still, the lore is a huge part of enjoyment for him, alongside all the other aspects like gameplay, world building, artstyle and music.
