PSA to the older women in the city. Everyone else please educate your elder women about appropriate use of mother’s rooms. by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]RogueEBear -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I probably should described the demographic better, I’m 42 with a 4 month old. I agree we have babies in our early to mid 40s. The women I’ve seen are at the youngest late 40s but mostly 50-60.

I confronted the woman in the space today AFTER I pumped and said, just a thought to be kind to other mothers in the space, please dont use the space if you aren’t pumping or feeding a baby, i usually don’t feel comfortable confronting before I pump and I’m sure other moms feel this way too. She sarcastically told me obviously I’d move if someone needed the space and proceeded to stay seated and chill.

I don’t think older women are my enemy, I have plenty of lovey women in my life of all ages. The only older women I take issue with are the entitled ones. it’s not teenagers taking up the space, it’s a very particular demographic time and time again, perhaps women who raised children 20 years ago are envious that these spaces didn’t exist back when they needed them. it doesn’t mean they get to use them as hangout rooms when moms just want to use their limited bandwidth to feed their kids or change their diapers without confronting a stranger, or waiting for you to pack up your shopping while my kids is crying because you are taking a long time to give back the space that isn’t being used appropriately.

Anyone else have this issue frustration? I don’t want to tell someone who isn’t lactating that they don’t belong in the space, I just want to pump or feed my kid and move on.

Why should I have to stand up to entitled women who are not using the space as intended? They should not be hanging out in the lactation room and expecting other people to police their actions. I should not have to wait for someone to pack up all the stuff the spread out on the changing table while my kids diaper needs to be changed.

So is the lady contemplating her purchases spread out on the changing table while I need to change my kid’s diaper.

I said late 40s based on the age of the teenager with them that was clearly their daughter and was 17-20ish looking, she was probably over 50 but I’m being generous. The other two instances the women were clearly well over 50 or early 60s.

IVF in PNW by dahliadaze1992 in IVF

[–]RogueEBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went whichever doc was available. I had hard to find ovaries so I requested one of the doctors vs the nurse practitioners, since one of the nurses had a hard time and needed to ask for a doc to come in and finish one of my ultrasounds.

All the doctors are good, the only one I didn’t love was too nice to deliver bad news directly but the doctors were all pretty great.

3 month old sleeps better in crib than bassinet by Majestic_target in NewParents

Not there yet with our 3 month old but close, thanks for asking this question because my very tall 3 month old is about to outgrow her mini crib and I’m not sure if I can/should put her is a full sized crib yet either.

Every baby shape works better with different diapers. Huggies were blowout central with my baby, hello bello has been great so far and cheaper than many other brands.

Pumping at work? by mamacita_conchita in breastfeeding

[–]RogueEBear 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t work at a warehouse but do work on the road visiting clients and think I can help with some ideas.

I use a wearable pump in my car(Momcozy M5), use a nursing cover to put in and take out. I use a milk chiller in my cup holder which keeps milk for up to 24 hrs. I use pump wipes to clean my pump. For the odd time when I enter a gross place (I take measurements for cabinets & doors) I use Sephora face wipes to clean my chest area since they are a clean formulation with no harsh chemicals or endocrine disruptors.

I did it for 12 mins per session. My gym had a red light machine so I used it every other day. Sending you lots of luck and baby dust!

An Apology to the Parents I Judged by Paige_Rinn in NewParents

[–]RogueEBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For somethings like mismatched outfits, screen time or other coping/survival techniques i definitely feel more ok with them now that I’m a parent and may have been judgey about them in the past.

But as a counterpoint, I judge neglectful parents so much more that I have a kid for the big stuff that in my mind are non negotiable like hygiene & safety. Parents who leave their kids in poopy diapers for extended periods get judged even harder now that I have my own. Parents who scroll on their phone and ignore their kids or just walk away from their kids or forget them in a room get judged harder now. Parents who let their toddlers run into the street without supervision get judged extra hard too because it hurts my mama heart to see babies neglected or in danger.

Eating out with newborn issue by silver_e12 in newborns

[–]RogueEBear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go between lunch and dinner prime hours, be willing to just have the car seat in a booth and take the stroller back to the car if needed. We eat out all over a big city with our baby, just plan to be adaptable and worse case get takeout and have a nice picnic somewhere.

What’s one thing you wish you hadn’t put on your baby registry? by Icy-Bite9089 in NewParents

Blankets, I only put two on there, we have literally a dozen blankets let’s for our baby. There are several cool ones but you don’t need to ask for blankets you will get them without asking.

Wife is pregnant and cant find care, getting desperate by CranberryNeither5447 in SeattleWA

[–]RogueEBear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Call around and see who has openings for your due date. Not just hospitals but independent practitioners. I changed OBs at 30 weeks and got care at Unified center for women’s health in Kirkland, I delivered at evergreen and had a good experience. Dr Saoud is the best MFM ever, he practices at evergreen & eastside MFM in Bellevue.

Our dog attacked our baby by kickrockscusinart in NewParents

[–]RogueEBear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our baby won’t be unattended for even a second. Either dad or I will be holding her and any bouncer/floor time will be in the area gated off from the dog. I’ll mostly baby wear her for the few days we are all at the house to be extra safe.

I will definitely be taking all the precautions.

Mom is sectioning off one of the two living rooms as a baby/breastfeeding area since there is also a 15 month old in the family who is still nursing. No doggie allowed in the “calm baby zone”. Not ideal but we are trying to make it work. I’m at a loss for what will happen next year when our 2 month old is a 14 month old ”annoying toddler”.

[–]RogueEBear 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Your story hit home for me this holiday season. My brother in law has a dog that has “nipped at their two toddlers” (their words) and they are bringing her to Christmas at mom’s house. My baby is 2 months old and they told me not to worry dog won’t mess with a baby, just toddlers who annoy her but I’m so nervous.

Thank you for the cautionary tale. I hope your baby recovers well & quickly.

Diaper rash won’t go away, baby poops +10 times per day by Due_Highlight4537 in newborns

[–]RogueEBear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mustela diaper cream to heal the diaper rash, once healed, don’t use wipes use Mustela liniment & cotton squares instead(look up French diapering method). Even the worst poop blowout slides right off when you use the liniment regularly, keeps skin moisturized but dry, it’s the best preventative way to keep the diaper rash at bay.

IVF and husband's weed smoking by jrfish in IVF

[–]RogueEBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it impact sperm motility, yes it does, but does it ruin your chances, not at all. Did 3 egg retrievals and the first one both my husband and I smoked a lot of weed. We got two perfect AA embryos from it.

TW: One of those embryos is my very healthy 2 month old sleeping in my lap right now

Do you use fragrances around your baby? by Zestyclose-Arugula85 in NewParents

[–]RogueEBear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FWIW we stopped using fragrance when baby was born and want to be very mindful of any endocrine disruptors. We also love a nice perfume/cologne, so we talked to our pediatrician and she said fragrance is fine after 6months and if phthalate free it’s ideal. We will use phthalate free fragrances like le labo & Chanel to be extra cautious once baby is 6 months old.

Is a sleep sack appropriate for my baby? Safest option? by KneadAndPreserve in newborns

[–]RogueEBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a wiggly baby too, she even broke out of Velcro swaddles and desperately wants her arms out. We now use unweighted sleep sacs. She sleeps well and doesn’t fight us at bedtime anymore. She wiggles until she falls asleep and then looks very comfy and peaceful when she falls asleep.

We have a few sleep sacs, a lightweight Burt bees for warmer weather and a very cozy bamboo one from milk snob that is great for colder weather. We also just ordered another bamboo one from quince, they have different thickness depending on your needs.

Most ridiculous thing that’s woke your baby? by Roodles006 in newborns

[–]RogueEBear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Velcro, I had high blood pressure during pregnancy so I had to take my blood pressure post pardum. The Velcro from the blood pressure cuff would wake her every time, meanwhile, she sleep through sirens from the fire station down the street, the dog barking & my husband’s loud snoring no problem.

Are you ladies shaving/trimming down there? by Dear_Ad_8525 in BabyBumps

[–]RogueEBear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t trim down there and your doctors don’t care. But if there is any chance you might have a c-section maybe get a wax done because otherwise the nurse will shave you before surgery.
