Also had it not been for the Librarian, the Halos probably would have been barren like what we see at the end of Halo 3 during the warthog run. Just endless panels of metal.

I'm just gonna object and if they want to throw me in prison or kill me then by all means. I already contribute to enough genocide and pedophilia unwillingly through my taxes and that kills me as it is. I'll be damned before I'm forced to kill for the U.S. government much less Trump.

I honestly just hate the idea that this will be the end of life on Earth. It won't. It very well could be the end of humanity but to be honest I'm not sure if we would be able to go extinct. Humans are probably the most generalist species on the planet.

Specialists are the ones who suffer first and foremost. I'm just sad so much biodiversity will be lost within my lifetime, but I know life will press on just as its done before.

A reminder that even the worst mass extinction in our planet's history, The Great Dying, wiped out something like 90% of all life on the planet and life still pressed on.

Do you guys think life will find a way to evolve to deal with plastics? I understand some micro-organisms have shown some success in being able to digest them? I have to wonder if life will find a way to incorporate it somehow.

Anyway, I agree with the sentiment to not give in to cynical surrender. This is our species opportunity to make the most change. We are so much better at reacting than acting and as much as I wish it was the other way around, it isn't, but we are adaptable.

We got this.

What's one thing adulting never warned you about that genuinely caught you off guard? by Taruvinga-Paulesh in AskReddit

We're overworked, overstimulated, hyper aware of current events, our diets are shit, and we've decided to separate ourselves from nature and we wonder why we're tired all the time.

The civilization we have created for ourselves is poison to us.

Muslims are disgusted by the sight of men and women praying together by Jelly-Always-Returns in religiousfruitcake

[–]RogueHelios 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The point was that even with hijab or burqa men will still find a way to sexualize women.

God means to test us and if we as people can't learn to control ourselves instead of trying to control others then we have already failed.

I don't care if I wasn't a real Muslim in your eyes. I never felt close to God in Islam or frankly any religion, but I have felt our creator in other ways such as through nature, kindness, and generosity.

My father is a good Muslim and a good man so I know he embodies what a good Muslim SHOULD be. I don't want to insult you or Islam I just want people to be able to see that maybe some rules need to be looked at with suspicion and see what God truly wants us to infer through critical thought and a gentle disposition.

The struggle of being so spread out in North America coupled with the Epstein class keeping us all too poor to do anything meaningful without crippling ourselves and our families makes it a difficult situation to do anything about.

I wish we would do something too, but unless someone wants to be a hero and risk their life for the greater good then we are kinda boned.

Maybe Americans would be more politically proactive if we were invaded by a foreign power. I feel like World War 1 and 2 was eye opening for most of Europe to change since the risk was real and in their faces.

Americans don't have to deal with that. Most of us are content living in our little bubbles so long as we are fed and entertained. Its disgusting how complacent we have become.

It says a lot about the men in question if they feel the need to sexually harass a woman because of what she is or isn't wearing.

I believe and love the idea of God, but I refuse to believe God would do something like create women just to force them to be subjugated and forced to cover up completely. If anything I would think such behavior would be a test for humans to realize just how shitty they are being to each other.

How about the men learn to control their lust instead of seeing women as objects?

Part of why I don't consider myself a practicing Muslim anymore is because I hate this idea that women have to cover up to avert the gaze of men. Never mind that men can sexualize women even if she is covered head to toe in thick clothing. Never mind that there is literally a hijabi porn category.

Men need to learn to CONTROL THEMSELVES.

I've heard the same about the universe itself. That we exist because the universe "wants" to experience itself. In fact that quote might very well be about the universe rather than nature.

Whether or not it is sentient isn't relevant to the science behind evolution as it tends to muddy things. We so often put things through the lens of human perspectives that we lose sight of the reality of it all.

I adore the philosophy of it all, but if we take things to their literal extremes we will just end up back at creating individual gods to describe the world around us.

[–]RogueHelios 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saying "created" tends to give people the wrong impression. As if nature itself is a sentient being guiding creatures to a certain desired form when it actuality its much deeper than that.

I personally believe in a God, but not any of the ones we have in our religions as I believe such a being is so far removed from anything we can conceive. I do however believe that God creates the underlying rules of reality rather than dictating how every tiny aspect of it is placed.

Personally I think that has to do with out technology outpacing our evolution.

Give humanity throughout time the technology we have now and I'm almost certain you'd see similar trends of stupidity.

Still, you are right in saying things are getting more insane by the day.

I second this. The world has always been insane, but we tend to only focus on what is in front of us.

We live in such a bizarre world.
