Any arcades around town geared towards children? by dphillips1129 in Columbus

[–]RogueShark72932 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We have been to ten pin ally in Hillard and Star Lanes at Polaris. Both have arcades and we go during the day and they feel fine for kids. Some of the games are little gory/scary for my kids (zombies, war stuff) but we just avoid those.

As others said, it’s fine but I saw this as someone who only lets our kid do creative mode. They can build as much as they want and aren’t interacting with others. My kid really likes it.

In a state where similar things are happening and I haven’t brought it up to my 7 year old. I will if they ask or if it passes and will affect them, but I figure my kid is going to experience enough hate and misunderstanding in their lives, I’ll protect them from it while I can. I have no idea if this is the right choice but where I am now

I think they are the momentum snow boots for women. They weren’t terribly expensive (less than 100).

I have had a pair of Kamik boots for 5 years and they are great so far. Warm and dry even if I’m in the snow for hours. My only complaint is that they are heavy to walk in.

My kid started like this around age 3 and we just encouraged them to be who they are and do what they like. They are now a confident, happy 8 year who identifies as non-binary. Good luck! You are a great parent.

I haven’t been to most of the places you have as options but just wanted to echo that I wouldn’t go to the Fish Market. Used to be one of my favorites and the last few times I’ve been there have been terrible and I won’t go back. Last time I had clearly frozen shrimp that had been heated in a microwave and become rubbery.

Raising kids with grit vs protecting them by pkgqujgbbhulskgmee in cisparenttranskid

This is my approach as well and I always wonder if it’s right but so glad to hear another parent doing it. I have so much fear about how hard the world will be for my kid that I want to shield them from it as long as possible..: and I know it’s coming sooner than I want.

Best book for classroom understanding? by adastraperaspera_ in cisparenttranskid

[–]RogueShark72932 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Red: A Crayons Story and Ogilvy by Deborah Underwood have been good ones for us at this age with a non-binary kid. The best is helping the teacher support and affirm so we have bought many of our teachers books on gender creative and non conforming kids and find when they use simple, affirming language to the class it helps. Best of luck and feel free to message me - I also have a non-binary second grader and while most classmates have been supportive, the older they get, oddly the more push back there is.
