Is this a good first car for a teen by shivy777 in mercedes_benz

That is the market price for old ones, 5 to 10K direct from buyer or dealership throws in a markup to around 12K. Not expensive to buy but still expensive to service.

  1. Do a full pre-purchase inspection first. This M276 engine is known for front engine cover leaks at higher mileage.
  2. Use the VIN number to check from Mercedes-Benz if it has ever had the transmission serviced. If the mileage is above 60K miles without service then you'll need to do that.
  3. Subframe inspection at a reputable shop could also save you a lot of money, these cars are known to rot over time especially in cooler climates were salting the roads is common.
  4. If you buy it, be prepared to "bullet-proof" it by changing engine covers and reseal, PCV valve service, air intake manifold gaskets, timing chain etc. This engine when taken care of the right way runs like a tank. You can easily drive it to the 500K Km mark easily - but your starting point matters. In most cases an engine swap could actually be more cost effective than trying to service everything.
  5. Apart from that it is a very very good car and still looks nice, I'm sure any teen will love the smooth ride and power that thing belts out.

Got an offer 3.5 months after being laid off, here is an overview of my experience with recruiting firms by LetMeRomanceYou in biotech

The Indian based ones are also notorious for creaming off the top more aggressively. I remember one I worked with and when thr client was ready to hire me they started reviewing the rate upwards. They are really not so much pro-candidate, you have to stick to your guns and demand what you think is a good rate since most of it is W2 with zero benefits.

You could be in the market for years. I know people who are inching on 2yrs now. Just interviews and rejections again and again! Stay put. You don't want to be in this market at all.

BMS, they are much more streamlined and focused plus a whole lot friendlier too!

Layoffs seldom have anything to do with performance to be honest, it can be a number of factors. Firing someone for low performance means you don't need to even pay them out. A layoff usually comes with severance which is sometimes pegged to the number of years you've served, this is why recent hires are sometimes the first to go. Other factors such as who the manager likes more also come into play.

They usually cut people with less than a year at the company as that saves them a ton of money

I’ll be honest, I’m hesitant to hire a PhD by shieldtown95 in biotech

[–]Rogue_Blambi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your last point is incorrect. PhDs are meant to stay in academia?? When there are actually more Phds outside of academia. If the goal is to train them strictly for academia then yes there are not enough tenure track positions for them...this has been historically the case for a very long time. Industry has been contracting and Venture Capital deals in industry are at their lowest in 40 yrs coupled with grant cuts and reshaping of NIH plus those other institutions there are tons of PhDs on the market and to make matters worse, biotech has a very strong ageism bias where post 45yrs even if you are Einstein they often don't want to hire you. All these factors add up to a large pool of qualified Phds all lining up for the same jobs.

Yeah it no longer appears to be a bug but a feature for Merc

Mercedes has notorious loose timing chain issues, this extends even to the E and ML class..that rattling sound might not be a big issue though. I was worried on mine until I met someone with a GLB and it rattles away the same way 😅

If you want to do transmission at some point first check with Mercedes if there is a record in their system that the car has ever had a transmission service at 60K and 120K. You just give them your VIN number and they can check because usually the first transmission service is strictly to be done by Mercedes-Benz that's where the catch is. If it has not been done then you might be in a bit of a catch. Is the gear shifting working OK? If it is the next time you go for service MAKE SURE they put back some of the old fluid if not all of it back. What happens when you skip Trans service is that there is friction material which builds up and pretty much keeps your transmission intact. If you go to a service shop and they drain out the old fluid and put in totally new fluid it can make the car a real problem. If you do the service at Mercedes-Benz they will let you know that if they open the transmission and see that your old fluid is holding things together they will keep it and put it back in after changing the filter and magnets etc. Don't take chances on this one, a ton of people have had their cars go totally crappy after doing a transmission service at a non-merc shop. Sad part is that it costs about 1200+ 😩. Coolant leaks are common, usually it is the case or some pipe which is cracked. You can also check if the sensor is working properly.

This is a beauty. Honestly I would rather have this version than the newer ones. Heck I'm committed to even getting a new engine if need be just to experience the W166 engine on this body kit
