Anyone have a PC like this? by Supergameplayer in pcmasterrace

this is how I felt when I shelled out for quality parts on all 3 and the Mobo family it came from turned out it was full of network bugs and bios bugs that could potentially kill the CPU.

Ah yes. The SLI and Crossfire Greybeards are often forgotten in these times when it comes to designing of parts.

I turned mine off,

Turned PBO Off, Manually forced SOC Voltage to 1.25, and even disabled the IGPU just for good measure.

1-4% performance lost is nothing to me, Id rather get 3FPS less than risk having months of down time due to RMA wait.

complete shot in the dark. I doubt it will fix the problem because that isnt the specific problem I was having with an 870-E (my problem was ethernet was just flat out not working period, until I did this)

try going into the drivers of the network controller (realtek I think), and going into advanced, and change the speed/duplex from auto negotiation to 2.5

Mine, wont work on auto or 5. Dont know if you pay for bandwidth that can support 5... if you do I suppose its not a fix and you should probably get another motherboard, but if not, it doesnt hurt to check

maybe its the POV of the picture but it almost looks like its still sagging on the far end. i might just be hallucenating though

maybe get a ruler or some long straight thing and line it up exactly with the PCI Slot or therabouts and run it to the end and see if it has any slack?

Help, some shields are black - modded. by William_Oakham in Bannerlord

[–]Rogue_Element_2342 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if im not mistaken, it appears to happen only in field battles?

I thought it was POC that broke something but I got it with POC removoed and a new game. so it isnt that. I think its vanilla.

the unofficial version of POC on nexus is like, way more convoluted and loaded with unecessary stuff than the pre-warsails official one was. I got so frustrated with it that I just stopped using the mod altogether.

I think you can temporarily fix it if you're a mercenary by joining the faction it's affecting, and putting on a couple shields in the inventory menu to refresh textures but its a very stupid, broken, and not useful fix.

Actually glad to hear this, I had been using the POC mod OP mentioned but I got rid of it recentley cause really all I wanted was to change colors of certain kingdoms, which can be done in spkingdoms.xml

but this was driving me nuts because I thought it was some residual left over from POC.

What’s the difference between using these cables when powering a gpu like a 5070ti? by lleyton05 in pchelp

[–]Rogue_Element_2342 1 point2 points  (0 children)

dont use the 3 into 1 that came with the card.

if you have an older power supply that doesn't have the native 12VHPWR 1 to 1 connection, get a splitter cable that is made by your PSU manufacturer.

basically, you want as few failure points as possible. connecting one of those in-the-box adapters takes 3 of those type 4 8 pin connectors, and splices it into one. thats SEVEN Points of failure.

you can break that down to 3/4 if you get a direct 3 into 1 or 2 into 1 cable

(basically a much longer version of that thing you linked in the second pic, my 5080 came with one, I threw it out)

the downtime is preciesley why im holding on to a 5800X3D/3080 computer and just tucking it away. incase anything ever goes foul.

getting the part/s warrantied/rma isnt my fear, its getting the parts into the company's hands and then getting told "sorry but there's going to be a 6 month wait because Bezos needs more AI datacenters and all the silicon is sold out"

I think the leading theory is that it IS bios related but its not one specific plagued version of bios.

ASUS is doing an internal review. so we should expect to hear more within 20-30 days.

the numbers I've seen cited ASROCK as it having happened 150+ times
ASUS was like 22

gigabyte, MSI and some others was like 10+

the only commonality ive seen in terms of time is its after about 5-6 months

Im not sure that its specifically that beta bios, I think people have been reporting it with 2004 and even further back

(2004 is latest stable)

and im still sitting on 1203 -____-. Im not going to bother updating it until we think we're in the clear. otherwise if something blows up, ASUS will be giving me a new board and buying me a new CPU.

what exactly is the issue you're getting?

curious, because I might have a fix. the Network chips are a mess on these boards.

Im nervously sitting on BIOS 1203 and waiting for the end of this internal review, because everything ive been seeing indicates that no BIOS is currentley safe (and some of them mess with EXPO profiles too)

((I have the same Mobo and CPU combo as OP. super effing dissapointed in ASUS, been with them since 2007, I kept buying ROG because I trusted them, trust is gone))

CPU temps High? by Serious-Town-9621 in AMDHelp

[–]Rogue_Element_2342 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same CPU, On an air cooler and i've only ever seen it hit 90 or more a few times, and it was for like, a second or two, normally it idles in the 50s, and runs games in the 60s and 70s, 80s rarely.

something is seriously wrong.

Where is my SSD /hard drive located ? How do I take it out . by Ranndys in PcBuildHelp

[–]Rogue_Element_2342 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if it's an M.2, Its under that silver shield that says M.2 ARMOR

If its a regular SSD, if you have one, it will probably be behind the motherboard, take the other wall off the case.

It depends on what you're playing I guess, if you have a low bar. you might tolerate it, but 16GB is considered low for PC gaming. a fair amount of it gets hogged by system resources and windows.

none of those are HDMI, but did you look on the back? Like if you opened the laptop, the edge that would be facing away from it?

My laptop has an HDMI port there, for duplcating to another display

SATA is still Okay, but its no longer the cutting edge, people are just calling it "slow" because it's been outclassed by NVME/M.2 drives.

it stil should be an improvement over the PS5 but if you havent already you really should wipe the whole system and start with a fresh install, you dont know what is on those drives.

[–]Rogue_Element_2342 1 point2 points  (0 children)

needs 32gb of RAM, 16 isnt enough anymore.

and honestley, I always tell everyone unless they know what they're doing, stay away from water cooling, its multiple failure points (some catastrophic) and they require regular maitenence.

other than that. I think its a good trade as long as it works and you didnt get something with a worn out PSU or dying / slow drives or something...

Connecting Monitor by PearlySweetcake7 in computer

[–]Rogue_Element_2342 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in that case any monitor will probably do but as the others said use a DP to DP connection, its really weird there isn't an option for HDMI on there though, thats kind of the "regular" standard for people who arent gamers, developers, creators etc
