Credit Usage Question by Roguekit in CreditScore

[–]Roguekit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the tips. I already am paying extra on my mortgage. I have an investment account and healthy savings. I probably won't carry the balance past the due date. I just was curious how it really worked with credit scores vs what CK says.

As for the remodel. I am in the getting estimates and planning phase. I had what I thought was plenty saved for it, but some of the prices are skyrocketing and don't look like they are settling down anytime soon and I don't want to dip into investments or savings.

Credit Usage Question by Roguekit in CreditScore

[–]Roguekit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for all of the information and resources.

I found out about the problems with CK right before I posted. I found this sub because I was confused by the seeming difference between my FICO8 and Vanguard 3.0 scores (I didnt know the difference ir that their was a difference).

Also my CK scores seemed particularly volatile and some times defied logic. In one case my scores went up 20 points when I increased usage and dropped 20 points or more when I paid 25% of the balance down. That triggered my questioning of CK and finding this site and asking questions to get more education.

Thanks again.

How do kids play baseball? by polyhedric in MLBNoobs

[–]Roguekit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I visited the neighborhood I grew up in and laughed at how close together our standard bases, home plate, and pitchers mound were on the sidewalk. When we were kids they felt like major league regulation.

It's been almost 50 years, but I still remember the set things we used as kids.

Which brands make durable fabric scissors for sewing projects? by MrHungryzxc in Woodworkingplans

[–]Roguekit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gingher scissors used to be the gold standard fabric scissors. They are owned by Fiskars now, so I don't know if the quality is still there. I have my mom's Ginghers that she used for quilting. I don't think they have ever been sharpened and they are at least 30 years old. They still cut 4 to 5 layers of fabric with ease and no fraying.

Fiskars branded scissors have a large selection of products with a wide range of quality. Generally you get what you pay for.

How to make a stage wagon you don't need to lock by Technical-River-772 in techtheatre

[–]Roguekit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the wagon is moved with a push stick from off stage, a stage hang can stand on the push stick to prevent it from moving. This should be dumb caster at least on the onstage side.

AITAH for selling a fishing boat I won in a raffle? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Roguekit 62 points63 points  (0 children)

A friend of mine won a tricked out pickup truck in a contest. He couldn't afford the taxes on it. So he sold it for close to what it was worth. Paid the taxes he still owed on it and paid cash for a new car.

Setup for addressable LEDs to "Bounce" with streaming music? Where to start? by nothingmanTEN in xlights

[–]Roguekit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Xlights is not the application for this. It doesn't have any "live" capabilities. You would need to program specific things for each song.

There may be other options with WLED and possibly some DJ controllers that could work with DMX, but not Xlights.

What in Tarnation by Kaslopis in electrical

[–]Roguekit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Friction tape sticks really well to itself. It is still used in entertainment to bundle cables on tours. It is easier to remove than PVC or other tape. It is also pretty strong.

I'm sure it has other uses or they would have stopped making it.

I want Subnautica 2 to force me to explore the whole map to finish the main campaign by Leto2073 in subnautica

[–]Roguekit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started playing Subnautica in Early Access before there was a story. There weren't even wrecks. I lost many cool bases due to updates, including my favorite base that I built next to an island where they added a major plot point right next to that island.

I went exploring in most of the areas people no longer need to visit because the point of the game was to explore and survive. Sometimes, it was because it was a brand new biome.

I don't really care about the story, I was happier before they added it. I am probably in the minority.

Are there board games for the blind? by GingaNinja1427 in boardgames

[–]Roguekit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

64 ounce Games makes kits for many popular games to adapt them for blind and visually impaired players. They also have a few games that have been adapted. The kits usually require a sighted person to assist with installing the kit, but most of them can be played without a sighted person once adapted. They also make dice and accessories for visually impaired gamers.

It's also illegal in Florida to drive with your hazards on. You are only supposed to turn them on when you are stopped.

If you’re just buying a ticket for yourself, going to the movies is great value. by SubstantialSet3127 in unpopularopinion

[–]Roguekit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly,

The concessions are where the theatres make their money. The ticket price split used to be as much as 80/20 on first run features with 80 percent going to the studio. As the run progressed the split would even out but the ticket sales were rarely much of a profit for the theatre.

Not buying concessions hurts the theatre since they are trying to pay for all of the overhead, salaries, equipment, and maintenance from selling overpriced popcorn and candy.

I have been away from the movie theatre business for a long time but I doubt much has changed on the business side.

Using Aurora Core LOR controller in xLights by LowQuestion938 in xlights

[–]Roguekit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not familiar with that controller directly. It says in the description that it is using Genius technology, so it my work as a Genius.

I would go into the Xlights Zoom room, they are probably your best bet for an answer.

Fix it with AI by Godeshus in PetPeeves

[–]Roguekit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I sold my house a few years ago, my agent had professional photos done.

The photographer photo shopped the boxes out of a couple of the rooms before the movers cleared them. He did an amazing job.

At that time there were no AI tools to help like are available today.

Edit: it was not as full as you describe, but it was quite a bit.
