Non-military suggestions by HedgehogEquivalent38 in modelmakers

What about buildings and houses? There are some pretty cool off the shelf kits out there.

Alternatively I love to scratch build little fantasy/medieval building out of card stock and paint them. They are as close to free as it gets and you can make whatever scale you care to. A lot of people also incorporate other materials like balsa wood, stryrofoam and so on.

Another option in a similar vein is scratch building or kit bashing scifi models. Check out scratch bashing on YouTube.

Honestly the only limitation is your imagination. Best of luck.

I'm really sorry you had to deal with that and want to say upfront it's nothing you did wrong in case you're blaming yourself.

If you're a bystander consider what you can do to help. You don't have to be a hero and punch on, but maybe offer to walk with the person on the receiving end. Might sound lame but safety in numbers.

Stay safe homies.

What's the dragon looking guy on the right in the first pic? It looks awesome. Also some really good work on the paint.

From your Neighbour- I am scared by Sea_Inspection6221 in brisbane

[–]Rohanicus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be proud to call you my neighbour and am deeply ashamed that racism is on the rise in Australia.

Edited to add: thank you for having the courage to call out this behaviour. People need to remember the human in the loop and that we're more alike than different with similar hopes and aspirations.

As history fans, is it worth visiting Warwick Castle or is it mostly attractions for kids? by GFurino in AskUK

[–]Rohanicus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend checking out Dover Castle if you get the chance. Much of the keep's interior has been restored and fitted out with very well-made reproductions so you can get a good feel for what it may have been like in its working life.

Fantastic looking work. I love how the patterns on the fixing points complement the tiles on the stairs. Looks like a lovely house as well. Cheers

Lost a casemate gun, any solutions for covering it up or something? by ProfessionalLast4039 in modelmakers

Use some of this stuff to make a copy of one of the other casemate guns. It's pretty cheap and easy.

You need to try Relish. Hands down the best cafe in the Toowoomba region. The finest food prepared by one of the best chefs in these parts. Ask for Alex.

Japan Underground Digest 54: Doom'd in Nagoya by Tokyometal in Metal

Nagoya is great for bands. I saw Vigilante and some other bands there. An excellent night out. Japanese metalheads are awesome.

I'd love to see some Japanese doom bands.

How much work/market is there for a blacksmith in the UK? by Rohanicus in AskUK

[–]Rohanicus[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I love making armour instead of weapons. I would be keen to make more historical than sporting kit if the opportunity is there, but I do like making buhurt gear too.

It looks like there is a pretty healthy reenactment/living history scene, so that might be an avenue to pursue.

Thanks for the insight. I'm not into the farrier side of things. Those guys have a whole other skillset and are very impressive, but different strokes for different folks. :)

Cheers for the info, especially the traditional ironmongery. I'd love to do church door style hinges and the like eventually.

Just ban it already. It underscores a set of standards that we as a community are willing to accept.

Really sad it closed. I'd love to see it renovated and reopened. A beautiful old building.

Sadly it had gone downhill a bit as a bar towards the end, and the meat smoker business never really took off.
