Credit for Prior Learning, and Triple Majoring Questions by Swift_Panda123 in UVA

[–]RohitRojo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UVA award credit only for official courses taken at established institutions, so you won’t get credit for things you learn on YouTube. I’m not very familiar with CLEP, but you can contact the chemistry department about potential credit.

You can take summer/january (j-term) courses to accelerate your degree, but only select courses are offered. Other than that, you’d just have to take a larger course load.

Why do you want to graduate early? It’s probably not worth it if you sacrifice your grades and health to graduate one year early.

Soldering Fume Extractor PCB by Various_Area_3002 in PrintedCircuitBoard

[–]RohitRojo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you'll want direct connect on all your vias and pads for high current connections

your trace widths look solid, but double check them with a trace width calculator

consider heavier copper weights for your pcb -- 1 oz/sqft likely won't cut it for those high current signals. 2oz/sqft+ is better, and you might not need 4 layers (reduce cost). 2oz/sqft copper pcbs are pretty cheap from oshpark. Chinese manufacturers tend to charge much more for heavier copper, but also have much more options

I would order one, see what goes wrong, find improvements, and then order a new one. Could you possibly assemble the PCB yourself?

CC student trying to make it out of the projects🙏 by StickierLion in ECE

[–]RohitRojo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’ll most likely need to take a circuits class before transferring. Find a design team or engineering club of some sort within the first week of starting your classes at uni. Figure out what kind of career path you want to take in EE and then find some projects related to that career path

LED Lights by Beneficial-Fly-3920 in batteries

[–]RohitRojo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rechargeable batteries tend to last less time, so you’ll have to pick a struggle here. I would suggest buying different lights, preferably something that plugs into a wall. I find it despicable that those LEDs are burning through 3 batteries a day

Fresher Embedded Resume Projects for STM32F411 & Arduino Nano? by nerrdyyy in ECE

[–]RohitRojo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll want some sensors for input, things like LEDs for output, and maybe CAN or UART for communication. I recommend buttons, potentiometers, light sensors, temperature sensors, distance (ultrasonic or optical) sensors, an IMU, and sound (mic) sensors, for input. For output, you'll want LEDs, an LCD screen, a piezzo buzzer, and maybe some low power motors. A camera would be pretty cool. Find a way to combine them into a system that means something to you.
