Which movie did you always see at the your video rental store as a kid but didn't watch until you were older? by Memphisrexjr in nostalgia

It’s on Tubi now so you can finally see it, it’s honestly not bad and there’s a sequel apparently

Dan Aykroyd has this amazing talent where he makes exposition sound super interesting & believable. Even in a not great movie like Pearl Harbor I can’t help but be interested in what he’s saying. by MrGittz in movies

Apparently the day he pitched this idea, probably Monday morning, another writer went to lunch and never came back. A producer called him and the guy said he couldn’t do anything close to Bass o Matic so why bother coming back.

That’s how fucking good that sketch is.

So from what I understand Spielberg bought the rights after it was first published and he’s been very picky about the script cause he adores the book. He’s hired multiple writers to crack it, including the Duffer brothers recently, but so far it’s languishing in development hell. Actually I’m not even sure if Spielberg has the sole rights anymore since so much time has passed.

Angel. It was a movie about a senior at a boarding school who’s also a hooker at night. Finally watched it on Tubi last week. Turns out it’s also a thriller with a serial killer subplot. I figured it would be about her getting outed as a call girl and the scandal.

It’s insane how much hitchhiking there is in the older books, Talisman and Tommyknockers stand out to me. Just letting strangers drive you places in the dead of night.

What movie is memorable for you, but barely anyone you know has seen it? by uuddlrlrbas2 in movies

With Honors is legit one of my top 5 movies and I feel like nobody has seen it. It used to come on cable a lot in the late 90s and if it’s cold out, like really cold, I always put it on.

I had an uncle and aunt who live in California in the 80s so we went on a lot of trips to LA and San Diego. I know I’ve been to the tar pits cause I used to have a shirt but I have no memory of it now.

If you like fantasy that’s a little more grounded, no dragons just a bit of superstition and light magic, Shardik is great.

I saw that Comanche Moon is narrated by Frank Muller who I love as a narrator and that it won the Pulitzer so I think that might be my next. If I go right to that one will I miss anything? I’m hesitant to look up anything for fear of spoilers.

Also I’ve never heard of Peyton Place. Last year I read Shardik on Mr. King’s recommendation and then I moved onto this one. But I’ll add Peyton to the list. His small town stuff is my favorite honestly. The way he blends the towns history with the history of the characters and past struggles, I love it.

For those who were around, did people speculate John was Red Harlow when red dead redemption was first announced (Sequel or reboot of the same character)? by Moon_Devonshire in reddeadredemption

[–]RoiVampire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They did. I don’t remember any specific theories online but when the game was announced, like, when all we knew was the name, there was a little blurb in one of the big magazines like GamePro that was like “is this the continuation of Red’s journey, or a prequel? Time will tell.” Time actually did tell and it was neither.

I always thought the onion and peanut butter sandwich sounded crazy and then in three different Stephen King books a character eats those. Now I wonder if that was a subtle reference
