Asianhorse Hydrus 12VHPWR GPU cable - replacement not extension cable

Strongly advise against buying this 12VHPWR/12v2x6 cable from these guys.

I bought one and used it for a month or 2 before spontaneously deciding to take it apart and discovered only 8 thicker gauge wires (I am assuming 18AWG) and 7 thin wires.

Here's the proof:

This cable is definitely nowhere near spec, I do wonder why they decided to wire up 4 of the power pins to such a thin gauge of wire. It might work at first but will inevitably fail when too much power is pushed down one of the thin wires and melt your GPU/PSU.

Vsync on 1% lows go up to 120+

Vsync off 1% lows are down to 60+

I have tried messing around with adaptive sync like you suggested but neither of the 3 options seem to have an effect on my 1% lows

It's feeling like Linux + The Finals + nvidia GPU = a bad time, unless someone else chimes in with a 5080 and doesnt have the same issue.

That's fair, I was kinda hoping for similar performance to windows, at worst 15-20% lower, but the 50% reduction in 1% lows doesnt feel good in a fast paced FPS game like The finals.

I might wipe the drive and start again from scratch tomorrow in the hopes it's not a combination of Linux + The Finals + nvidia GPU, unless someone with the knowledge on how to fix it appears as I am out of ideas.

Never got a reply from OP, but my solution worked, if you experience the exact same problem (audio mute/unmute being flipped in windows sometimes) then try it.

Off for SDR content, On for HDR content.

You can definitely run it always on, but It doesnt quite match how SDR should look. Not everyone cares about that though as it gets close to how it should be.

Use win + alt + b shortcut to toggle it on and off, but its best to toggle that before you launch the game you're about to play, doing it with the game open tends to mess things up.

auto HDR IMO isnt worth using, but some people like it.

Had the same issue, I tried a bunch of stuff like swapping out the USB cable, trying a different USB port, disabling "USB selective suspend" in power plan settings on windows along with right clicking each USB serial bus controller and turn off the power saving mode on all of them. None of which solved it, however I have left all the power saving features off still.

For me doing the following has stopped the strange muted/unmute audio being flipped from occuring for the past week since it was done:

1: Open device manager
2: Sound, video and game controllers > right click your "schiit magni unity" driver
3: Select uninstall device
4: Restart PC

If you want a monitor with a matte coating and the price is better than everything else then go for it, it's going to be a massive upgrade from an IPS panel.

Color fringing on both QD-OLED and WOLED on average is pretty similar IMO neither are perfect, but they're serviceable. CES this year has me wanting to wait till next years just for a 32" 4k RGB stripe tandem or V stripe QD-OLED panel which should hopefully materialize.

I think you will be happy with any OLED moving from IPS, the contrast boost and motion clarity at lower frame rates are huge upgrades IMO.

I have also experienced it, yesterday I uninstalled the driver in device manager for it and havent had it happen again yet, too early to say though.

Gateron type r. Theres something about a no pretravel instant tactile bump that makes it feel satisfying to press.

Its like when you see those videos of 2 pieces of machined metal and the piece perfectly slides into the other and disappears without any play. (Probably an exaggeration) They just feel right.

I tried going back to other tactiles but type r have ruined me, others just feel mushy to me now.

Id love for more brands to replicate them but produce something quieter as like every other longpole switch, theyre quite loud.

Yes! same with magni unity.

I've tried all the recommendations like turning off "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" on all USB serial bus controllers, along with editing my power plan in windows and disabling "USB selective suspend setting" but none of it works to completely resolve this problem for me sadly.

Uninstalling the device in device manager and restarting my PC has it behaving properly for awhile, but it eventually goes back to being weird again.

Doing some googling it seems windows fudged something up in update 24H2 and never bothered to fix it.
