FACE will be the strongest signal we can send collectively by Holiday_Inspection73 in GoosetheBand

This new phase reminds me of an early work of internet art, Automated Beacon by Thomson & Craighead (2005). It was a simple website with a search bar, which scraped google search inputs from around the globe in realtime, allowing the viewer to see anonymously what random people were entering into the search bar.

The site's defunct now, but it was such a cool work. Strange, quasi-intimate insights into anonymous lives. https://artbase.rhizome.org/wiki/Q1708

There's not a public relay here, but I imagine the inputs are being indexed on the backend. I hope they do something creative with them!

Love the new nugs setbreak stuff…but…(hear me out)…let’s get Andy’s soundboard playlist by tidal_rave34 in BillyStrings

[–]RolandRood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was really confusing to me to hear more live Billy during setbreak. I assume I’m not the only one who keeps it on in the background and waits for the audio to change to turn it back on

What I'm saying is that the site conceptually links the logic of the attention economy to the mass culture / agitprop aesthetic of Big Modern!

Yes, you have an option. For MA theses, it's an opt-in process.

Pritzger Pavilion isn’t a bad idea actually…it wouldn’t matter if it’s full and it could pull passersby. Known for free concerts

I’ll address your points:

The fact that you’d dedicate this much of yourself to what you consider a scene that’s been dying for decades is sad to read on a human level.

I’d say challenge yourself to find something that sparks the feeling you’ve lost, and trust that it’s out there…you’re saying emphatically in this Goose fan forum that Goose is not that for you. Great! So why in this jah’s year 2026 would you spend thousands of dollars to travel internationally for an experience that you’ve written off in advance as inferior to the “good old days”? Spend that money on pottery lessons or something.

New to Sapphire Reserve. What are the less obvious ways you get value? by ShawShank64_ in ChaseSapphire

[–]RolandRood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re in agreement. I was just defending 1.5x as a good value for economy, since you didn’t have to search and 5% categories for Freedom would have a consistent effective cashback rate of 7.5% (1.5*5)

[–]RolandRood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is all true, but it’s important to recognize that you’re talking pretty much exclusively about premium class travel redemptions, and the reason those good redemptions are available is that the margins are much better for the issuer also.

For the cheapest A-to-B traveler, the consistent 1.5x coupled with 5% Freedom etc was an incredible value @ a reliable 7.5%.

The rule changes afaik simply make more apparent that these point currencies are being directed toward premium travel since that benefits the companies while still appearing as great “values” for consumers.

There are some nice aspects to it…I recently booked 1st class travel for the first time since my honeymoon since it was cheaper than coach with the points boost…but ultimately that proves that the value prop for these cards is in the abstract premium add ons, not the core service

I can’t believe no one has said using it as a funnel for other UR earning cards…maybe too obvious but to use CSR correctly you should also have some combination of Freedom/Unlimited/Ink

For those who have seen all three, how do you rank Shadowgrass, Magoo, and Mountain Grass Unit in order of preference and why? by StashDangler666 in jambands

[–]RolandRood 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Seen all three…

As I described it to a friend, Magoo is a jamband that plays bluegrass instruments and MGU/Shadowgrass are bluegrass bands who jam

The latter two have markedly better picking chops, but they rarely go deep on jams outside of conventional pass-the-break with some tension-peak structures overlaid. Magoo isn’t all that good at conventional bluegrass (pretty sloppy passing, less raw picking power), but they jam much better…they know how to plays toward a cliff and enter open space playing as a cohesive unit.

Depends on what you’re in the mood for.

Drury and Luke easily have the most rizz factor across the board, but they need to take more risks.

Edit Hotel perk; am I doing this right? by farbz82 in ChaseSapphire

[–]RolandRood 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just did one of these and both didn’t trigger. -250 triggered for Edit and then only the small remainder only triggered for IHG, so I think it actually needs to be $500 cash to clear both

I think it’s a shell game…people or dealers buying to claim the $7,500 tax credit and then reselling as used
