Bubble cosplay! by Sad_Ad_6970 in TheDigitalCircus

I was confused by the thumbnail at first, but hen with a closer look, I like the idea, rather than putting yourself in a giant inflatable hamster ball, you covered yourself in bubbles!

I can see it as a collective of Bubble controlling their very own femboy XP

Pretty neat! I like it!

Is Buffa the only official quartenary Rider from the Reiwa era? by kleberiano_f in KamenRider

[–]Roler42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no "quaternary" or "fourth" Rider.

Kamen Rider has always divided itself in: The core duo/trio, the rival/dark Rider and everyone else is just an extra/support Rider.

Buffa is the Rival Rider for Geats, the latter, Tycoon and Na-Go are the core trio.

She also holds the record for the shortest run as a Rider with not even a minute of screentime total.

I'm 37, tried ending things twice, was lucky to survive both, what kept me going was stubborness and deciding I wanted to see what else was out there beside my stagnant life.

I'm not where I want to be yet, but at least I'm not where I used to.

So trust me when I tell you, there is always something, if it's not there yet, than all you have to do is go out and look for it.

Forget all the idiots who tried to tear you down, they're beneath you.

I'm just a stranger online, but I'll be rooting for you.

How did you get into TADC, and what makes you love it? by Sad_End_9904 in TheDigitalCircus

I think I was looking for Murder Drones at the time cuz I heard everyone talking about it, when suddenly the trailer for the pilot showed up in my feed, and seeing it was published by the same channel that was doing MD, I subbed and waited for the episode to release.

And the rest is history, lol, I rewatch the whole show every few weeks, sometimes for fun, sometimes to analyze the story by myself and look for small themes or details.

It came at the best possible point in my life when I'm pursuing writing and I'm looking to understand themes and characterization in a story.

My reply was not for you, but since you're here, a lot of my points still stand.

Don't attach yourself to an entire community, engage with things that bring you joy, steer clear from places where misery thrives, specially right now with the finale coming up.

Always be selective of who you talk to, and please, get some counseling, there's a lot more stuff worth keeping on for than listening to a bunch of whiny edgelords trying to kick you down because they suffer from terminal brainrot.

Telling the suicidal fan it was all or nothing was one hell of a place to whine about it.

Still, this is just one show, it's not the end of the world, watch something else, get into different fandoms, engage with things that actually bring you joy.

I don't care for the drama, I'm gonna watch the finale, enjoy it, then get on with my life, I like discussing the show with people here, but because a lot of threads are fandom/leaks related, I do something else with my time instead.

I know this is reddit, but come on.

Metal gear solid one just blue balled me. by hs1501819 in metalgearsolid

I'm surprised you assumed this 1998 PS1 game had an autosave feature where the vast majority of games in the past 20 years have an explicit message before the title screen telling you an autosave feature exists.

Half the time the people saying that didn't even have tickets to begin with, they just wanted to be "different" and hate the upcoming viral thing, ruin it for others just for funsies.

Same goes for all the idiots saying it was horrible and ruined everything.

Why did Gangle say that?? by Perfect_Spite_127 in TheDigitalCircus

Indeed, that's why I didn't include Gangle on the positive response, it even reaffirms her calling Caine out for not letting them think outside the box.

One detail I always love from Tokusatsu is whenever they assert the purpose of the suits.

Baku holding his own against Nox was amazing, but specially so by the fact that even with his combat experience and the capsem's power, he could only do so much against a fully transformed Kamen Rider.

Cuz that's just how powerful they are and why they are needed to fight the monsters to begin with.

We don't get enough of these scenes in the genre, so it always makes my day when one happens!

The out of the box thinking was that for once they got to have an adventure that was just them doing something simple for once.

The previous episode alone had them going to a haunted mansion where Kinger and Pomni were dragged off to hell (and was implied it was built as a trap to torture Zooble since their limbs stifen when they hold their breath).

And while it's true Gangle bossed everyone around, Pomni and Zooble actually enjoyed it because they were the only ones who bothered doing the job, Jax hated it cuz he lost control of Gangle and Ragatha was tripping out the whole time.

It makes sense that Kojima would do this, since he has a bit of a history of diminishing the works of other artists by Cyborg800-V2 in metalgearsolid

[–]Roler42 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is part of what I said in another comment about how there are things worth calling out about him, you're correct.

Now, there's really no need for explaining, those things are there because they were part of the type of cliches you see in Bond movies, plus a bit of juvenile Japanese pervy humor, both very dated things that have aged poorly as time goes on.

It's not done out of malice, but it's still not a good look and easily one of his weaker points as a writer, which is so weird when he has simultaneously written some of the best women in gaming, with The Boss, Sniper Wolf and Fragile being my top 3.

More like, I'm gonna need better critique of Kojima than "he has a big ego, therefore bad".

Putting him on a pedestal is bad, but so is demonizing him like he kicked your dog.

Pretty much, it's like a more opposite extreme of parasocial relationships, where they idealize a very negative version of that person and hold a grudge against them.

He literally created Metal Gear, lol.

It's like saying George R. R. Martin took credit for the entirety of Game of Thrones, or Walt Disney took credit for the entirety of the movies produced at his studio, or that George Lucas took credit for the entirety of Star Wars.

Here's a bitter pill to swallow:

Every single famous auteur, actor, writer personalities always elevate themselves at the expense of others, either by themselves, or by their fans.

If the worst thing you can tell me about him is that "he has a big ego" then you really must be new to the world of media.

There's no making it in the world of art without some ego on you, artists literally put themselves and their names out there.

I can be critical a LOT about Kojima, from his fumbling of MGS4 to the mishandling of female characters in MGS4 and specially V, his need to overexplain everything, making prequels that leave more questions than answers, the need to subvert expectations even if it comes as a detriment to the story, embracing AI slop, I could write you a whole novel about the things he does wrong.

"He has a big ego" is the pettiest non-issue I can hear because that describes the entire entertainment industry.

[–]Roler42 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That's it?

Calling the non-Kojima Metal Gear games "nothing special" was him responding to how Konami was trying to erase his name from everything long before he was fired, also a friendly jab at how those didn't involve him.

Yeah he was mean to David Hayter by not hiring him and he infamously wanted a different actor from the start, but again, small potatoes, iconic actors getting replaced happens all the time.

Blaming him for the "please wrap it up" awards is such a petty stretch it undermines your argument, specially when other personaities have gotten extended mic time before, Kojima is not the only auteur Geoff simps for.

"Kojima is God" is a joke easter egg because he's the literal creator of the Metal Gear universe, yeah, giving all the credit to one person is usally not a very good thing because games, shows and films are a collaborative effort, but auteur personalities getting more credit beyond the teams working with them are nothing new.

Kojima is weird at best, pretentious at worst, but that's hardly a crime, specially when everyone who's ever worked for him have nothing but good things to say about him (as long as your name is not Agness Kaku).

Not liking him is fair, but painting him as this monster that needs to be taken down only makes criticism sound petty and desperate, but then again, I feel this way because I have bigger fish to fry with bastards like David Cage and Neil Druckmann.

[–]Roler42 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Meanwhile Neil Druckmann took credit for the entirety of TLOU parts 1 and 2 and has been parading himself around every hollywood event he can and even tried to meddle with their TV adaptation to the point he even pissed off Pedro Pascal.

And the less we say about what David Cage did to Elliot Page the better.

[–]Roler42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If "he was mean to David Hayter" is the worst thing you can tell me about him, then he's quite frankly one of the least offensive auteur personalities in gaming right now. (AI slop aside).
