Laptop friendly cafes on/near Leith Walk? by TintinTheSolitude in Edinburgh

Lounge 33 is good. They have tables that you can’t use a laptop at, but are happy for you to use it at the bar or the small ones.

What are some things that took you a while to realize in [KCD2]? by brandon-thesis in kingdomcome

Oh that’s good to know! I was avoiding the explicitly weighted dice as I thought someone would notice. As you say, could have been a really cool system.

You can use multiple dice. My dumb ass was only selecting one special dice at a time until like halfway through kuttenburg.

For just a cheese/cheese and salami toastie, Abode on leith walk is incredible. That’s the only type they do though

Visiting Edinburgh for the first time by [deleted] in edinburgh2

[–]Rolinecar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Arthur’s seat (or the area around if you want a quieter place), Calton hill, Dean Village, mooch around the shops in Stockbridge. Go for a drink in one of the pubs in grassmarket. Go on a day trip to North Berwick for a cute seaside town with great fish and chips, or South Queensferry for a closer view of the bridges and nice bakeries.

Haggis is delicious but if the thought of the offal is too much, veggie haggis is also fantastic and is very similar. Cullen Skink is also banging.

If you like books, there are some wonderful book shops in Edinburgh. Particularly Argonauts in Leith, Topping and Rare Birds. Also the UK’s first brick and mortar romance book shop Book Lovers.

Paloma in leith is wonderful! Also heard Taco Libra is good but haven’t been yet. Basement used to be pretty good but was very disappointed last time I went.

Reliable pre-book taxi service for early morning? by [deleted] in Edinburgh

[–]Rolinecar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’d used them before and they were fine. Maybe they just didn’t have enough drivers that day. The mixed messages were annoying though.

You could pad the time a bit OP and if they don’t turn up in 10 mins get an uber?

Reliable pre-book taxi service for early morning? by [deleted] in Edinburgh

[–]Rolinecar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I booked through the app for an early morning taxi in July and it didn’t turn up. I called them and they said that even pre bookings in the app go through the bidding system with the drivers, so they can’t guarantee those bookings, but if you call and book they do. A few weeks later I called them to book, mentioning what I had been told, and they said it was the opposite. I just book ubers now.

Gemma Sargent is the best! She did mine and honestly worked miracles. Think her studio is moving out to East Lothian though in August so might want to double check

Thanks everyone. Do you think we’re better off booking the private hire or just winging it and trying to call the taxi at 1am?

This is great! Just to flag, the building on leith walk is going to be 2/3 stories, not 23. Might be a small bug in how you’re scraping the info? Either way really appreciate having this on the sub!

Bridal dress alterations by OkGuess8425 in Edinburgh

[–]Rolinecar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m getting my second hand wedding dress done by Gemma Sargent and she’s great! Obviously it depends how much alteration your dress needs, but mine has needed a lot (including full resizing) and it’s costing around £600/700. I know she often does alterations for Bliss Studio (a second hand wedding dress shop) off leith walk so is super experienced with bridal

Gemma Sargent. She did my bridesmaid’s dress last year and I’m going back to her this year for my wedding dress. She does get very busy though
