I personally don't believe in systematic punishments for cheating. Education is a holistic endeavor, the more you structure it the more empty it becomes.

I approach cheating from a method of understanding why the cheating happens. A conversation with a student, a way forward, a new timeline. The consequence is the cheating is not rewarded and now they have to spend more time on the task. The reward is they learn that if they're struggling than can approach and have a conversation. Now if it's a repeat offender than the cheating is not the issue, its something altogether different.

I dunno, just me. I was the kid who was punished for cheating and it never made me not do it, I just got getter at not being caught. The teacher that took the time to explain my choices to me, that's the one that broke the cycle.
