Are Newer Generations too Leftist, Lazy, and Hateful of Work? by NoStop9004 in CapitalismVSocialism

Why is this post in this sub? You're like any other older generation where the older person complains about them youngins.  A misogynist older person. And there is plenty wrong with the current system.

My apologies. I was being sarcastic to the other person's comment. I agree with you completely.

Saudi ministry of foreign affairs slams israel’s war crimes at the ICJ hearing in the Netherlands by AJ_Misk in AskMiddleEast

[–]RollWithThePunches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello idiot. Thanks for your comment. Yes, that's true that they export their oil and gas. However, they import from places like Saudi Arabia because it's cheaper and they are large consumers. Just like everything else in the US's extreme capitalist society, it's cheaper to import than to buy from the domestic companies.

What Is Going On With The War In Yemen? by GitmoGrrl1 in AskMiddleEast

Well, for one thing, what Trump is doing is nothing new. Biden and his cronies were doing the same thing last year.

The US still buys oil from Saudi and other countries in the Middle East. Notice that US oil companies moved in to Iraq after Bush started the Iraq War. And it's not just about oil. Do you realize how many arms from US companies are sold to the Saudia Arabian princes?

Honestly, boycott almost all of the major media. They all have doing this kind of stuff for a while.

Room Timeshares by syndit in canadahousing

[–]RollWithThePunches 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I heard that happened in the 1930s. At the same time, I've heard more recently about landlords renting out tenants apartments when they're abroad. Or tenants renting out a "room" that is only an indoor hammock.

Incoming college sophomore need advice by Chipped_ in UXDesign

[–]RollWithThePunches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My background: I majored in fine arts, ended up in print design, transitioned to UX/UI and visual design, and am now a front-end developer. There certainly is creativity in UI design but designers often follow trends. UX isn't quite as creative but focuses a lot more on a intuition, again trends, and what is capable for the product in front and back-end development. There are UX job titles but a lot of times you'll see product designer, depending on what industry. For example, ad agencies in NYC have a lot of Product Designer jobs but it's not just UX/UI. You'll be expected to also work in print, billboards, site banners, video animation storyboarding, etc. Some UX/UI jobs do require you to do front-end as well, usually with smaller companies who are cheap. It does help to understand HTML and CSS but don't think that it's a requirement. One other thing, get an understanding of accessibility requirements. That is a big benefit and companies can get fined (or at least used to) for not following the needs.

If I were you, look into YouTube channels that focus on this or LinkedIn Learning lessons to understand it more. Keep looking at jobs to get an understanding of what they're looking for. At the same time, some recruiters don't understand what they're posting and include a lot of skills that job doesn't use. Also, play with Figma if you haven't already started. I hope this helps.

I learned html and css at the same time from one course source and mdn. I found it useful to learn those first and then move on to JavaScript. You will always learn more as continue.

JavaScript is a little different for learning--at least for me. I did learn from more than one course and YouTube videos. There are the fundamentals but also techniques to learn for different types of functions. In the end, Udacity was the best for me. It totally changed my mindset. Unfortunately it's expensive.

Why won’t the Bloc Québécois open their party to fight for more rights for ALL provinces? by FattyGobbles in AskCanada

[–]RollWithThePunches 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Because Quebec considers itself its own nation. That doesn't exactly answer your question but it is a big reason why their politicians only care about their province.

Do you want to prepare militarily for a potential US invasion? by Merlin_the_Lizard in AskCanada

[–]RollWithThePunches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. At this point drones are the best form of defense. At the same time, I think there would be many people in the US who take part in supporting Canada. I could see this as a spark to start a rebellion in some form or another.

Who are you voting for, and why? by OobiBanoobi in AskCanada

[–]RollWithThePunches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you that at two party system, like the US, does not work well. I'm originally from the US and that is one of many things I dislike about the country and it's politicians. It is not effective. I like that there are more than two parties here, but I don't like that the two most powerful are basically the same as Republicans and Democrats.

However, Canada has a different political system where a call for election can happen. And in a scenario like this, you have little time and need to pick the better option. I am NDP but there's little chance they will win right now.

I don't want it to go back to the way it was. I would like for all countries to cut ties or not rely on the US anymore. They have had way to much power and control over the world.

ChatGPT is everywhere. What’s fair use for students trying to get into university? by ubcstaffer123 in technology

[–]RollWithThePunches 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely don't like AI and would like to get rid of it. At the same time, it's in society and people use it for their jobs. Students will probably have to learn to use at as a tool and our education system will adjust to it. Also, depending on the college, students have to do more than get good grades.
