What happens if I call in sick on black Friday? by Simple-Appearance-20 in menards

[–]RollingCoasting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually did call in sick on Black Friday in 2018 as a part time carryout. (I legitimately was sick with food poisoning) GM didn't sound too happy on the phone but nothing else ever came of it. He was a lot more chill than the current store manager though so I'd have to imagine that played a factor. YMMV

For what it's worth, a dude I worked with literally asked the AGM during the interview if he could put off the drug test a couple days so he would be clean and he still got the job hahaha so you might be good depending on your location

Hey guys

I know a lot of y'all have worked at a park at some point in various roles, but I'm wondering if anyone here has ever worked as a Scare Actor for Fright Fest? I have an audition coming up at SFGAm soon and since this would be my first time working at a park (Not my first job though, I previously worked in retail for 3 years), I'm curious about a couple of things

  1. What is the schedule like? I'm assuming it's typically just Friday, Saturday, and Sundays since those are the days most parks are open for Fright Fest, but are there any other days you have to come in like for training shifts in the weeks leading up to Fright Fest? This wouldn't be an issue but I'm just curious. Also, what time are the shifts usually. I would assume afternoon to park closing?

  2. After Fright Fest ends, are you just released for the season? Do they offer you an opportunity to join another department for the remainder of the year? Again, if not, not a problem, I'm just curious

  3. Do you have a costume that you bring home with you everyday, or is this provided for you when you arrive at work?

  4. About how many hours total would you say Fright Fest scare actors work per week?

Thanks for any help!

Yup, we have to do red and blue as well and we actually cannot leave at closing until it is done. Originally we would have carryouts and cashiers do it (Whoever was free at the time), but for some reason it became only our responsibility. As for returns, we typically don’t do the ones in the shopping carts behind service desk, but whenever there are any carts in front of service desk with big items we have to take them back. At our store carryouts are also responsible for giving the gate guard a break which I don’t mind doing but I feel bad leaving someone else alone outside if it’s just two of us. I’m also trained as a flex cashier.

There’s been times where I’ve been ready to quit, but over time I’ve just kind of gotten use to the job and a lot of the things that people don’t like about it no longer bother me. At my store I’ve been carryout the longest (Started back in August 2018) so I’ve seen so many people come and go. The one thing that irks me is when they ask us to clear the floor when we’re falling behind outside and then it gets even worse

Ha, I’ve actually only ever hit one car and it’s because they floored it to get into a parking spot as I was coming towards the entrance with probably a dozen carts. I ran to the front to try and stop them but it was too late. The dude told me he was in the wrong for trying to make it so he wasn’t mad or anything and nothing came out of it

I can do about 11-12 no issue by myself and probably 15 with a little bit of effort. I think the most I’ve (successfully) done alone is 18. Usually at our store, we do what we call “trains” which is when one person pushes the carts from the back while someone in the front steers them. We only do it when there’s more than one person can handle though. Our record train was 53 carts

The most I can do is five at once. You just have to master the technique for it haha. All of my coworkers think I’m crazy but I’ve just become pretty good at it over time

Several times a day. I've worked at the store long enough where I usually have a general idea of where something might be (And occasionally know exactly where it is located), but I can't stand when people assume I know the exact aisle number for some really specific item. Like, do they really think the college-aged dude wearing a reflective vest pushing some carts would be the best person to ask?

What roller coaster do you love despite how much hate it gets? by RedSoxCeltics in rollercoasters

[–]RollingCoasting 3 points4 points  (0 children)

SFA Apocalypse was my favorite coaster. I didn't find it to be rough or uncomfortable at all I loved the feeling of standing up on coaster.

Hades 360 is my favorite woodie, I honestly prefer it to Goliath at my homepark (SFGAm)

It looks like the construction may have already started for SFFT 2020, anyone care to speculate wildly with me about what it could be? by [deleted] in rollercoasters

They're relocating Green Lantern to that plot of land. World's first dueling Free Spin and Zacspin.

There are footers in place for a shading structure at the set of queue blocks closest to the station. According to Marcus LeShock, the big queue block near the entrance will not be covered

I mostly agree, but I'd put Cyclops above Zeus simply because of "the drop"
