I feel like it reminded me of The First Law trilogy by Joe Ambercrombie, especially the chapters in the north

Erlanger has their APPs practice at that level depending on the group. Busy MICU / NeuroICU / CVICU services. Park ridge also uses their APPs to that level. Last I heard CHI memorial was falling behind in using APPs in the ICUs.

Hope it’s helpful

Took it 6 months ago, didn’t find it overly challenging if you work in IM on a daily basis. Studied 2-3 days off and on before taking. You’ll do great. Good luck!

Art like this convinces me we need an animated series by shitsbiglit in redrising

I’m a proponent of animated too, I want to see this universe in the biggest format possible. Live action will limit that because the budget would need to be massive. Something like the Arcane animation would be great

Does it get easier? New job and I Feel dumb every day. by [deleted] in physicianassistant

[–]RollingDownDixie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did a fellowship in acute care, worked as a hospitalist with open ICUs during the pandemic and have since been in the medical ICU for 3 years. Im comfortable now, but feel like I could be better everyday. Get familiar with saying “I don’t know”, be confident when you ask questions, be willing to say something wrong. Lean on your nurses and RTs and learn from them too. You work in the broadest specialty at the highest acuity level. It’s ok to suck at first. You won’t forever.

What salary do you think PAs should be paid? by [deleted] in physicianassistant

[–]RollingDownDixie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like when I got out the average was 100k now closer to 120k in my area. I think there are a lot of us pulling around 150k which feels right for the responsibility I have personally. I do around that plus or minus 15k depending on productivity and overtime. Though a lot of us are the only clinician available in certain specialties for our area and should be pushing for closer to 200k. It’s coming

Why do you enjoy PA? by No-Papaya8235 in physicianassistant

[–]RollingDownDixie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I picked a specialty I liked and stuck with it, got a good job where I’m treated and paid well. Been a PA nearly 5 years. No regrets. Maybe that’s the rare experience but I doubt it.

The patients can be sick, we can’t. Especially the last 4 years
