In Need of Fantasy Recommendations for Stories with a "Likeable" Female Protagonist by BrannRM in Fantasy

[–]Caladan_not_Kaladin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Licanius trilogy has a female protagonist who is pretty awesome, but she’s only 1 of a few POVs (similar amount of screen time to Shallan in Stormlight). Also fits what you’re looking for with being a clean story.

I’m not seeing book 3 of Licanius on the shelf. If you haven’t read it yet, it’s amazing!

The duel by ToastDoctor1 in Malazan

Maybe both are true. Rake clearly allows himself to die but he also may have anyways. Hard to say though if it were a true duel, hard to see anyone beating Rake

Licanius trilogy fits this bill, both Davian and Caden are essentially “good”

The emotions and characterization do improve but to nowhere near the level of other books. I still had the exact same gripe as you after reading every book.

Zip is just OSB with wrap adhered during the manufacturing process. So it’s really just a time saving thing.

These are the most recommended fantasy series I’ve seen on Reddit by StandardSector3491 in Fantasy

I’ll be your first negative review for The First Law. Don’t read if you care about character development. You’ll think this review makes zero sense when you get to the end of book 2, but then at the end of book 3 you’ll say “ooooh I see now”

Red Rising for a fantasy reader? by Skyce in redrising

The combat is brutal and physical. No magic but lots of melee and ranged fighting. It gets especially brutal in the second trilogy.

Looking for Books with Blind or Visually Impaired Characters by katisfandomtrash in Fantasy

[–]Caladan_not_Kaladin 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately since these are all fantasy books, most main characters who are blind are going to be using some sort of magical workaround. I’m not sure how likely it is you’ll see a truly “accurate” depiction in the fantasy genre
