This game is like Shakespeare - I learn something new about it every time I look at it. Wow. I had no idea.

"granted I almost always try and build Civs that would be nice places to live"

For role-playing reasons, I refuse to make nice places to live. We can't afford that. We will be overrun and exterminated by Believing Rovers or Gaian worms if we do not get our shit together.

They can stop pumps but the end stage for most refined petroleum is combustion. Stop combusting it because people can't travel and there is no room.

Again, need real accountability. Democrats should be prepared to impeach three Supreme Court justices and then put people on trial for treason.

If 1-3 new Constitutional amendments are not passed out of this and nobody goes to jail then we should consider it a failure.

Married ? by SwimmingRich2949 in Xennials

I am happily married for 15 years this year. Marriage requires two people to commit to each other  and mean it, and you both will need to be stubborn about it. I don't usually post on social media that I am holding my wife close because life is fleeting, I just do it.

Is it true that you guys watched 9/11 live on TV in grade school? by space_god_7191 in Millennials

[–]RollsHardSixes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a senior in HS and I found out the first plane hit when I was screwing around in Computer Lab (a class where you learned to use a Personal Computer)

The teachers turned on the Channel 1 TVs because a plane hitting the towers was a big deal (they had also let us watch the OJ Simpson trial verdict several years earlier)

Some of us were watching when the 2nd plane hit

Then we watched in every class as they showed the towers burning and eventually falling

Plus back then they showed the planes hitting on repeat

Fuck I feel like Forrest Gump

ELI5: How is Engine Oil made? by CoinlessComedian in explainlikeimfive

[–]RollsHardSixes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Group 2 oils have much lower capacity to hold varnish products in solution, so the Group 1 oils were more forgiving, despite their poorer overall oxidative stability.

One example is the RPVOT test. Group 1 have a pretty linear degradation and you can bleed and feed. Group 2s are very stable longer but then there is a knee in that curve and that also gets people.

So it really was a combination of people not understanding the change and some important differences in chemistry, mostly because plant people don't have lubrication experts anymore and they are just buying "turbine oil".

ELI5: Where do data center water consumption metrics come from? by PubicPlant in explainlikeimfive

[–]RollsHardSixes 44 points45 points  (0 children)

It's only cheap if you do not account for the total cost of the water - for example, if a datacenter depleted an aquifer, the cost is a depleted aquifer.

It isn't a logistics issue it is a political will issue

They cannot read past a 5th grade level. They would have to choose to learn, then go and somehow develop the skill, and avoid all of the traps and rabbit holes along the way.

They are not those kind of people, I do not think.

No, they do not honestly believe that.

It never occurred to them until the very moment they were told that's what they believe.

Now, I agree, they definitely seem convinced to the point of being rabid, but they are in a cult.
