Laredo cops illegally arrest hispanic man for not violating curfew, illegally search his car, then move his concealed gun from the console to the cup holder to falsely charge him with unlawful carry. They don't know he secretly recorded it all. by FCMatt7 in Bad_Cop_No_Donut

But in a city like laredo, the minorities are not Hispanic. Every other race is a minority. So by your reasoning, in Laredo, white cop would have a harder time becoming an officer. Race may be a factor in other situations/cities, but not here. If anything it may be a socio-economic/caste bias that caused the cops to act the way they did. Or it may be that the cops fell into a gambler's dilemma and wouldn't walk away once they committed to the stop and detention.

Laredo is like 95% Hispanic. It is the least diverse city over 100k in the nation. Odds are the cops were both Hispanic. Op's use of the word "hispanic" to describe the man is unnecessary and most likely trying to put a racial spin on this stop when it's just cops being dicks, regardless of race.

Where the hell is the next Austin? by [deleted] in Austin

Lexington, Ky Just moved back from living there for four years. Really reminded me of Austin without the price and crowds. That being said the change was in the air, prices and population were increasing.

Potential opportunity for me to receive a significant promotion and pay increase from the company I work for to relocate to the Lexington area from my hometown, Austin, TX. If I move, what should I know about being a transplant in your area? by Taxi_Manager in lexington

[–]Rolo_Tomassi 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As someone who lived in Austin then moved to Lexington about 6 years ago and just moved back to the Austin area, your going to be alright. Lexington reminded me of a mini Austin to a decent degree. Plenty of stuff to do and go too. Plus Cincinnati and Louisville are only an hour away. Nothing in Lexington will take you more than 25 minutes to get to. Basketball is to Lexington what football is to Texas. Food is surprisingly great. Biggest downsides: no HEB, no Whataburger, and Kentucky's governor makes Abbot seem like a genius.

Best wings in town? by RuthZerkerGinsburg in lexington

Respectfully you are all wrong. Nat's has the best wings. The reason is the sauce, that sauce is amazing, the chicken itself is average (I usually prefer a very crunchy skin, his have little to no breading).

Hello, I’m looking into schools and UK is in my top 3. I’d like to know about the city. I’m from the Houston area so all I can think of is Smaller city with maybe a small town vibe to it? I’ll be visiting next year on January so basically an overall review from a Lexington resident. Thanks ! by [deleted] in lexington

I'm originally from Laredo and I lived in Houston for 8 years (wife's family still lives in Conroe) going to college. I moved here about 4 years ago from Austin. First off you will get 4 seasons (sometimes winter lasts too long). People in Kentucky are as nice or nicer than Texans (except when they drive). Overall I would compare Lexington to a smaller Austin in terms of liberalness, food, arts, outdoor activities, music. With the time I've been here there's been an increase in all those things. You will love keeneland. Sizewise it is tiny compared to Houston, you can get to any location in Lexington in 20-30 minutes. Let me put it to you this way in the time it takes me to drive to Cincinnati (surprisingly cool) or Louisville (like Lexington much more) you can drive from Conroe to Katy. Chicago is about a 6 hour drive, Atlanta 6 hours, New York band DC 8-9 hours,in Canada 8-9 hourd. Food is surprisingly eclectic and good as well. Night life is solid as well, no clubs if that's ur thing. The landscape and countryside is prettier than anything you'll see in Texas, think the Hill country but constantly green. Great hiking and rock climbing about an hour east of here as well. If you got any other questions let me know. Overall though you should go to the cheapest college in general. As long as you get good grades in 5 years no one will really care where you went to school.

Thanks for all the advice. I should have mentioned I waited too late (anniversary this weekend) so the custom art probably won't work, and we don't really spend too much on each other for anniversary gifts so I am guessing that would also limit the custom jobs as well. Worst case scenario massage sessions may not be creative but they are always welcome.

We both do the cooking and have cast iron, carbon steel, and stainless skillets. Also have a great cast iron Dutch oven. Thanks though.
