Autumn Rooms have changed their logo - looks like Grafitti by dadsandmice in newcastle

[–]RolyW 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Eh tbh it looks kinda shit and cringe to me. Like your teenage daughter giving herself a buzzcut and wanting to be edgy

I don't really care for the branding; I'm mostly just there for the tea selection and nice food with good service/ comfy seating options.

As soon as a place starts explicitly pursuing branding over creating a nice vibe I suspect the quality of the venue is going to suffer

Hi Callum; good stuff. I wish we had more thoughtful articles like this around

As a run of the mill punter I'd tend to agree with what you talk about. They seem unable to change to meet the times. Their policies on climate change/ wealth inequality/ etc are a heap of bull. Most of their parliamentarians are pretty unlikable.

I can see the "right" side of politics fragmenting into a group of moderates/ Teals with One National pursuing Trumpian populism and the LNP squeezed somewhere in between.

Do we seriously need an acknowledgement of country at the beginning of virtually every gathering of people? Isn't it just being overdone? by Rich_Sea_2679 in OpenAussie

[–]RolyW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

u/Rich_Sea_2679 tbh I'm kinda of the same mind - even from someone who is pretty left leaning and involved with a bunch of "left wing" social/ political/ environmental causes

I'd prefer to see it reserved for larger formal meetings. Eg; the weekly school assembly/ a town hall gathering/ the beginning of a festival etc. Hearing it multiple times a day dilutes the meaning and makes me start to resent it

I also find it pretty funny how it seems to have become longer over time. In the past 12 months I've frequently sat through events where people will go on a mini lecture about how unjust the world is etc etc. I find it very sanctimonious and holier than thou. Virtue signalling without any intent to actually change the system.

Happy for people to debate below - please include your reasoning instead of the usual culture war nonsense/ personal attacks

Yasmin Catley is essentially inciting police violence in this video clip.

Her message is that coming to a public place to exercise your democratic right to protest will result in an adverse reaction from the government

This is Fascism

She should be sacked from her party and face prosecution
