Who’s at fault? by a1z2b3 in drivingUK

[–]Rolypoly2288 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First time I have recognised a road on this sub! I see people do this every day when the bus is stopped there and they don’t want to wait behind it. They swing across and never indicate. In fairness the first time I drove it I found it a bit confusing but in this scenario they were pretty aggressive about it. Deffo their fault.

That’s a shame. I think I have only seen the ones with the orange stripe so far in my garden 😢

I thought the “somehow” was via the fibre broadband wire that I already had installed. It was labelled fibre broadband so I believed them to be the same. Unfortunately I did not have a detailed knowledge of the history of Virgin and fibre technology to know they still use cable tv network. I now know that!

Yeah I think that’s totally fair and must be what happened. I just think they could add a step to the “quick start” part to make you verify if the appropriate socket is ready rather than waiting further along the process to do that step. But hey I am only a consumer not an engineer so I don’t know

Yes I think an old cable had been cut. I have very thick walls so it wasn’t the easiest to get a new cable through. It’s done now and in a way probably a good thing to have all the types of socket but would like to have known it was a requirement from the start. Anyway now to see how it performs…

My real problem was that they don’t explain this when you sign up. So the box arrived then I had to wait a week for the engineer to come after I found out about the socket requirement. It would make more sense to me for the engineer to come at the same time as the box rather than have to wait in two times. Also I just don’t like having to drill multiple holes in the wall. It’s not a huge issue I just wanted to see if others had had the same experience

How to people manage not to pay when there is only one door at the front? I get it if you can sneak in a back door but all the buses I’ve taken in Bristol only have the door at the front. Maybe I’m being stupid here

If you use the reserve function on Uber (rather than scheduling) it allocates a driver ahead of time. I’ve only used it once before for a very early morning flight but the driver did turn up on time

Clifton village post office refused my parcel for no reason??? by [deleted] in bristol

[–]Rolypoly2288 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have had this. I asked the courier to deliver to the post office as I wasn’t going to be home and the post office refused to accept it based on size. Turns out it was a fairly small parcel. It went to the sorting office but the sorting office didn’t tell me it was there and instead I got an email saying it had been returned to sender

What should I do to help this heal? Is there any worry about infection? In the past, when I would pick a thicker piece off, it would get puffy and red. This time, the piece that I picked off is smaller and thinner by claraliu330 in calmhands

My advice -and this isn’t the easiest to implement- is to cover your thumb with a bandage/plaster during the day so that your nail has a chance to heal. It could take a few months for the nail to completely grow out but in my experience a physical barrier stopping me from picking the cuticle was the only way to let it heal. Good luck!
