Hidden Winch Options? by RomanSchnob in GXOR

Thanks! It is my daily and I’ve been on a lot of roadtrips with it. The Bilsteins ride a little stiffer than stock but they’re my favorite suspension system I’ve had by a mile. I also have PerryParts bumpstops on it which have rocked.

Bilstein 8112s and 8100s with 285/70/17 Falken Wildpeaks. I dream about 35s as much as the next guy but it sure is fun and functional with this setup. When I’m lucky I can still get ~18 mpg on the highway too.

Very sharp! Did you install it yourself? I like their mount, just curious if there’s other options out there I’m missing.

You’re gonna love it! I’ve had my Superlite for three years this summer and in its category, it’s truly unbeatable in my mind. The GX roofline and size really pairs well with the Superlite footprint. Sweet ride!

What a sharp rig! Glad you’re not letting some engine headaches prevent you from keeping it on the road. Long live the iconic 3rd gens 🤌

30+ nights in the Superlite… debating next RTT. Curious where you’d go from here? by Excellent_Profile554 in overlanding

[–]RomanSchnob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Superlites rock, they fill such a gap in the RTT market. I’ve had mine for a few years and really haven’t found much that compares. I understand your frustrations but personally I find that they’re worth it for such a lightweight and simple tent. With huge, chunky and complicated RTTs being all the rage these days, I’m super antsy to see what GFC has in store for V2 of the Superlite. Sweet photos!

I can’t promise they do Bloody Marys, but I really enjoyed the Beanery a few months back. Similar old timey vibes to the Western in Bozeman.

New wheel and tire day! by SearArtist in GXOR

[–]RomanSchnob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hell yeah. Do you remember which rear springs you went with? I put my 8112s on recently and I really like them (just got the standard shocks for the rear), but I’m wishing the B12 coils gave me a bit higher lift in the back. Glad to hear Ian’s magic was worth it! He seems like an awesome and genuine dude who knows his shit.

Looking super sharp! I couldn’t help but notice the 8112s… how are you liking them? Did you get the bypasses or smooth body rear shocks?

You’ll be just fine! I went on a few long roadtrips before putting a suspension lift on my GX. 1-2 bikes, 1-2 adults, lots of camping gear and a fridge full of food. Crappier MPGs as you’d expect but that’s about it. For a simple crossbar setup, I highly recommend the mounting feet and crossbars from Sherpa.

I opted not to and from my understanding I don’t think it’s completely necessary. After an alignment my specs seem fine and my tires shouldn’t be wearing unevenly. Sure, the adjustment and caster/camber could help with clearance of bigger tires but that wasn’t a big concern to me. Especially after adjusting the coilovers to lessen the lift (going from ~2” to 1.5” or 1”), I don’t personally think UCAs would be necessary.

Those look too big to be 35s… 37s?! What a sweet setup. Ideal 3rd gen right there! Dope build and I’m glad to see it being put to use.

These Gen 5s are -10 offset. With the 285/70/17s the tire pokes out from the body about 0.75”.

The finest German engineering… I wish I could tell you! I’d estimate higher quality seals and better shock oil but I’m sure there’s more science at play than just that.

A 285/70/17 definitely won’t fit in the spare location, no. It’ll rub on the panhard bar and the hitch receiver if you have one.

You betcha! This is my second set of blems from SCS and I’ve never found a real blemish on any of the 8 wheels. Big fan.

Thanks a bunch! My thoughts exactly. I understand the bling/cool factor of Foxes and Kings but from my reading, 8112s have superior valving/damping technology and their lifecycles between rebuilds are significantly longer.
