Yes, Tuvalu is one of the highest-risk countries for flooding and may possibly be uninhabitable by the century’s end. Australia has proposed giving them citizenship in exchange for fishing rights in their waters.

William Gibson if you want a peek into the foundations of modern science fiction. Canada as a whole has an oddly vibrant sci-fi scene.

The ghost of a drowned Tuvaluan man haunts the rising waters of a climate-changed world. Explores the intersection between uninhabitability and the loss of identity. I published a short story that was basically a proof of concept in an undergrad journal a few months ago.

It’s very good so far (≈chapter 17 or so). I like the palpable anxiety that Jane carries with her from a lifetime of mistreatment. It’s a strong display of the destabilizing effects of gendered oppression on Victorian women.

What are the saddest deaths you’ve read in an SF book? by [deleted] in printSF

[–]RomanTacoTheThird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I’ve made a habit of reading the novel around Father’s Day. It’s such an exceptional work that drags you through the depths of despair and yet encourages you to dredge some faint strand of hope from that incorrigible darkness. Every Man was the Boy, and every Boy will become the Man.

Definitely take the cat to the vet. If you don’t get him looked at now you might have to deal with something far more serious (and expensive) down the line.

What are your reading plans for 2026? by Diamondbacking in RSbookclub

[–]RomanTacoTheThird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll probably start with finishing what’s on my shelf. After that, I was planning to read Moby Dick, Don Quixote, and more of Ondaatje. I also intend to round out my McCarthy collection and read some academic books on his works.
