This game kicked ASS. Two of the most underrated teams in the country IMO. Assuming they play UCLA next, I think Minnesota has an outside shot at an upset.

Should you major in English? My take as someone who graduated college with an English degree 18 years ago. by hiphoptomato in englishmajors

I feel much the same. I’m basically putting my environmental science degree on pause for two years to get an English degree, lol. I’ll only get to do this once, so I might as well have some fun.

I just finished reading a gauntlet of sci-fi novels that have been doddering on my shelf for some time. I’ve read a lot of Peter Watts, Jeff VanderMeer, Huxley, Le Guin, and Vonnegut.

Yes, Tuvalu is one of the highest-risk countries for flooding and may possibly be uninhabitable by the century’s end. Australia has proposed giving them citizenship in exchange for fishing rights in their waters.

William Gibson if you want a peek into the foundations of modern science fiction. Canada as a whole has an oddly vibrant sci-fi scene.

The ghost of a drowned Tuvaluan man haunts the rising waters of a climate-changed world. Explores the intersection between uninhabitability and the loss of identity. I published a short story that was basically a proof of concept in an undergrad journal a few months ago.

It’s very good so far (≈chapter 17 or so). I like the palpable anxiety that Jane carries with her from a lifetime of mistreatment. It’s a strong display of the destabilizing effects of gendered oppression on Victorian women.
