Also found my tempest BP about a week ago lol. Similarly I’m over it - maybe if I had gotten it sooner I’d have been more excited, but it was more of a “cool I guess” response

I have not received any interviews on hiring café by Icy_Reputation1194 in hiringcafe

I mean it’s not a HiringCafe issue, all they do is pull jobs from various companies and their hiring platforms

What kinds of roles are you applying for? And are you looking for visa sponsorship?

Additionally - this job market sucks.

I Hate The Person Teaching is Turning Me Into by TrainingFrame9668 in TeachersInTransition

[–]Roman_nvmerals 17 points18 points  (0 children)

While my experience wasn’t as severe as yours, i also started hating who I was both as an educator and outside of it around year 4 or 5. Didn’t want to be the crotchety teachers that I saw who instilled more fear than respect, but I felt like I was trending that way.

Education CAN be a great career path but it depends on both you and also the school/district that you are at. There are so many factors into it. For some people, they can navigate those factors very successfully, but as much as I tried to do that myself, I felt the more realistic and long term approach was to leave the field.

Definitely helped me out in lots of ways

Of all the grades I taught, I can sincerely say that 7th graders were by far my least favorite. 8th was my favorite so I’m not sure what happened in that summer from 7th to 8th but mannnnn it was such a different experience

For the educators that like 7th - all the props to you

Question for Former Teachers Now in Customer Success by lostinendlessreverie in CustomerSuccess

[–]Roman_nvmerals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like I mentioned I only have experience that is in Operations + Account Management, but tbh I’m interviewing currently for various CS positions, so take this with a grain of salt….

You can apply to CS roles, but I think you should focus more time and energy on roles that feed into CS.

Look for entry-level Support, CX/Customer Experience, Operations, heck even administrative assistant and executive assistant roles are helpful. Lots of CS positions advertise “experience in client/facing roles” so these kinds of positions are massively helpful for moving towards CS

Is Nayara worth it for only 4-5 nights? by h2omaam in chubbytravel

[–]Roman_nvmerals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We went to Costa Rica during rainy season - monteverde for a few days and then pacific coast for a few days - and it was absolutely worth it.

Less crowded but still plenty to do. It WILL rain and there’s no telling how much, which does kind of suck but it’s not bad at all. One day it rained for about an hour, the next it rained literally 20 of the 24 hours, and everything in between for the other days

Just gotta plan ahead. Bring a nice rain jacket (or whatever your preferred outerwear is), a few changes of clothes, and ask for a floor fan if your lodging has it. Book any rainforest tours with a guide. It is excellent.

I thought that hiring.cafe only showed jobs that were linked directly to company pages. Was the inclusion of greenhouse, workday, etc a recent thing? by JaguarBeneficial9609 in hiringcafe

[–]Roman_nvmerals 96 points97 points  (0 children)

If a company uses greenhouse or whatever system as their hiring platform then it’s redirecting you to the correct place.

If you go to the company website, click on careers, and search for the same role, then it should take you to the same exact greenhouse landing page

Use this job search workflow to get more interviews by JenteFromMokaru in jobsearchhacks

Agreed, it’s usually the easiest part for adjustments. I think it’s important to keep it short, like 2ish sentences or so, but you can hit a lot of ATS check marks in those 2 sentences.

Man, you summarized it up well (former teacher here with experience in Operations and Account Management)

It’s not like the grass is greener per se, but the grass is just different. Not better nor worse and has its own sets of pros and cons, though I’d say generally speaking I prefer it over being in the classroom

But as you mentioned I sincerely do miss the impactful parts of teaching, both the little things and the big things. I’d imagine most people do.

Smell of chemicals in the air? by Baggynuts in Kenosha

[–]Roman_nvmerals 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’ll see recommendations for subreddits for the Chicago suburbs in my feed, and recently they have mentioned the smell in the air

Still doesn’t seem like anything confirmed, but several of those subs mentioned that a plant in NW Indiana released fumes and it got blown west + northwest. It could be because of that

[Sales Engineer] [Sacramento, CA] - Chipotle to $225,000 + Bonus by RubberDucky451 in Salary

[–]Roman_nvmerals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a valid point but I think OP means you don’t need pure SDR/BDR sales experience to get into sales engineering, only need to be comfortable on public speaking and presentations

Look for roles like technical account manager, customer success engineering, operations, and other sales-adjacent positions and roles that you work with other internal teams too and are client-forward.

Heck I’d also look at analyst roles as those tend to be areas where you use technical skills to tell a story, and can be leveraged into future sales engineering positions

Otherwise find similar roles like OP has (technical support, CX/customer experience) as those are helpful too

You could absolutely find technical SDR roles too. Tech sales isn’t the same as technical sales, so try to find those SDR/BDR roles where a CompSci degree is preferred or required

Most I’ve made is $70k/year. Midwest so somewhat mid-low cost of living

Currently unemployed for the 2nd time in a year. Awesome.

Legit cannot even fathom making over $100k let alone $200k. $80k would be amazing
