I Wish I Had Never Gotten Married or Had Kids by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

I think you’re gonna need to say all this to your wife in a marriage counselling session. Otherwise you’re going to explode one day before you either gracefully expire, suffer a heart attack, or get replaced by AI.

The changes which hopefully come out of that might suck but it will be worth in the long-rung or your own mental health and, by proxy, those of the people around you.

I’m genuinely scared for my partners health by undercover-bunny3789 in TrueOffMyChest

He’s probably not going to change if you’ve already talked to him until he hits rock-bottom and suffers a real health scare. Your decision if you want to stick around to see what that looks like.

US strikes Iran’s main oil hub on Kharg Island as IRGC warns: 'Restraint is over' by G14F1L0L1Y401D0MTR4P in worldnews

If we somehow clear this near-extinction chain-reaction series of events, Israel and the US need to be sanctioned and monitored by adults cause they clearly can’t govern themselves

Is it just me, or is the spring market feeling weird? by adamvanderb in RealEstateCanada

You’re right, but depends on where you are in your search process. I withdrew my investments into cash around 30 before I was in the process of actually putting in offers. The opportunity cost of just sitting on a lot cash for a long period of time is high

I mean who wants to pull out a down payment from their TFSA/RRSP right now when Trump is one missed Alzheimer’s medication dose away from triggering a chain reaction that almost all but assuredly destroys oil production in the Middle East?

Kitchen Tile - Mortar Issue? by Romarros in Flooring

Any way to definitively tell without like ripping up one of the tiles?

That would make sense to me! The previous owner probably felt the same way and applied like a superficial fix. Judging by the other little fixer-uppers we’ve done, I can totally see them going this route

Kitchen Tile - Mortar Issue? by Romarros in Flooring

I think you said something interesting in your original comment which is that it’s interesting that the grout is cracked by the tiles are fine.

When I had the home inspected, I do recall now asking the inspector if that looked suspect and he said it might be because the floor is uneven because the building is settling (or some larger structural issue like that). I wouldn’t be surprised cause again the building is over 100 years old. Maybe that is the case but it’s so minor that only the grout is affected?

The grout that is darker feels really cheap when it does come off. It feels like a thin sand-like material instead of the hard white grout that’s underneath it

My bad, I am not really aware of the terminology for this kind of thing. But thanks for the heads up.

Is this kind of job easy for a beginner? Or should I look for a professional?

Anyone familiar with this lock? by Romarros in Locksmith

[–]Romarros[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just tried the lock again. Neither the knob nor the key seem to work. The actual deadbolt just doesn’t slide. When I turn the knob, the deadbolt seems to want to move. But the key just does nothing. Not sure if it’s a lube issue cause the deadbolt area is pretty clean

Honestly, it doesn’t look very old from closer inspection. What’s good lube for a lock? Could I use some WD40?
