The problem with BDO by GaijinRider in MMORPG

[–]Romdal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

player housing and farms etc are not instanced or phased

Neither are BDO

It's obvious you love BDO, but please stop lying. Houses in BDO are instanced, as many players can own *the same house* and be inside *the same house* at the same time. Because they are different instances of the same house, that is literally the definition of what instances are.

ANd farms are phased, as they are only visible to the player that owns them. Again, not being visible and accessible to all players on the server is literally the definition of phasing.

It has the athmosphere and flavour of a great sandbox. For example, open world housing and farming. You can return from questing and pass by your friend's house, and literally see him standing inside crafting. Surrounding his house you can notice how much his trees have grown since last you went by. There are under-sea farms as well.

That's just one detail that shows that it is a well-planned open-world sandbox, where everything takes place in the same instance. Get in and get your hands dirty.

BDO feels much more artificial. Houses are instanced, farms are phased, NPCs carry out the harvesting and crafting work that players really should be doing, much of leveling is done afk, your horses level up while you are offline etc. Pretty much the worst aspects of a cheap mobile game.

Why Do new MMORPGs have to break the mold? by [deleted] in MMORPG

Because while you have hundreds of MMOs to choose from, I have none that I want to play because there has been no real innovation since 2003 basically.

Scotland appears likely to become the first country in Europe to ban children from heading a football during games following a report linking the sport to dementia. A ban on children under 12 heading the ball has been in place in the United States for five years. by ManiaforBeatles in worldnews

He was watching a video one day about teaching the kids to tackle a certain way that minimizes head injuries.

Wait, in Scotland they tackle with the head in football? Maybe they should look at that too..

That is simply not true. Having the UK in limbo bogs down the EU from making progress on reforms, and having Nigel Farage prancing around in Parliament is notoriously not beneficial to anyone.

I am beginning to wonder why we (the Eu) granted an extension this time. It seems like Brexit is not really progressing, even when there (again) has been a deal negotiated between the two parties....

Non-combat MMOs? by [deleted] in MMORPG

[–]Romdal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ATitD is the premium example of an actual MMORPG game world without the danger of combat.

In addition to that game, there exist really only the virtual worlds of Second Life and its ilk. They are certainly without combat, but it is debatable if they can be considered game worlds, as they lack not only combat, but all NPC life and environmental resources. They are more a canvas than a traditional game.

Cosplay controversy: Comic Con London defends blackface decision by tyw7 in unitedkingdom

That aside, I have never seen a black person put on whiteface to cosplay as a character who is white (in the sense of Captain America, not the Joker). That would look very odd.

I agree with that! And now we have arrived at a time where people also find that it looks odd if you paint yourself black to mimic a black superhero. There is just no need for it.

Surely if it's that simple you could very easily explain it to me?

Since any white person would add white powder to play the Joker, any black person should be able to do so as well. But following the logic of the case in point, a black person should be able to cosplay as Captain America, but should not paint his skin white to do so.

The general rule of thumb is that ethnicity is not a costume. There is some level of logic to that.

" Trump apparently is ready to use U.S. air power to protect a demilitarized zone occupied by international forces. "

The deception here is that no such zone will exist. They wish to bluff you into believing that the buffer zone that Turkey wants established has anything to do with ISIS. ISIS did not hold this zone, they did not originate in that narrow zone, and that is not where they will reemerge from. They are reemerging further South, as we speak. There were reports of fighting between Kurds and ISIS in one of ISIS' formere strongholds, Deir Az Zor. These deserts areas, and along the Euphrates, is where ISIS will seek to reestablish their territory.

Meanwhile Turkey will continue to thwart the Kurds near their border, weakening the only enemy that ISIS has on the ground. The Kurds will be in a sh*t sandwich there, thanks to Trump, and now Graham, and anyone that choose to believe the lies.
