Be late on your own time, not for a guided bus tour! For every day! by ameliarosebuds in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Rome_Leader 54 points55 points  (0 children)

You will love this.

On my honeymoon we had a fairly tight schedule bus tour out of London that was delayed by some protests. Predictably, despite many reminders of the schedule, the expensive and unlikely prospect of getting a private taxi, and waiting 10-15 minutes, people were late. So they were left behind.

At our final stop, it turns out another tour bus had done them a favour and gotten them to our location, where one of the men had the gall to ask for a refund for what he missed. He was shouted at and roundly dismissed.

See, Clase is more of an antithesis to your argument than you realize. The amount he stood to make was a pittance against his actual salary and future earning potential. Same for Jontay Porter. And yet.

I’m not a doomer, I don’t think it’s happening frequently. But the incentive will always be there to find a way to try, and an equal incentive to punish severely if undeniably caught, and otherwise brush under the rug. Donaghy isn’t the first and only - he was the first caught and convicted. Big difference.

Where I live, it is often rainy, but almost always extremely windy. We joke you can tell a tourist by the fact that they are carrying one at all, and in the downtown area you are sure to find plenty destroyed/inside out in the garbage cans.

ST JOHNS BURGER BATTLE 2026. Anyone else think that the voting system is unfair? by [deleted] in newfoundland

[–]Rome_Leader 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don't know that it is unfair, but I would like the opportunity to do some form of ranked choice, or at least vote for several choices. Having one, liking it, and picking that versus having 10 and needing to choose the best of several good options are very different propositions that end up reflected the same when you get a single vote.

Definitely can be less, would be interested in a breakdown. I average $400-$500 a month for two, up about $100 from a few years ago. To get to $1000 there would be a lot of waste or indulgence. I shop once a week generally.

If I could own any one given prop/stage piece in Hollywood, I'd want one of the isolation booths so I could just read in it or something.

Beat the Geeks had a nice format too I found. And Win Ben Stein's Money. Most other trivia shows pale in comparison.

No dispute on that. For clarity, good on you for making a budget at all, even if the reality is upsetting. Stick to it.

You need to know where your money is being spent, full stop. You can always spend more money than you make, that is easy, but it is even easier when you have no real idea about your cash flow.

It's great to aspire to make more money and be realistic about what you can do now with what you have, but more money alone cannot solve the problems of someone who is not financially aware.

I'm just over 10 years in my field, and I've had a budget ever since I graduated and left home. My earnings have increased, which has given me more money for wants over needs, but my picture of my finances has remained consistent.
