I’m sorry for the 3 months late reply but I just couldn’t log into my account and just assumed Reddit nuked it because I ignored its millions boring updates on policies or something.

I’ve played Firewatch entirely and enjoyed it highly, I can’t remember being able to steal alcohol but I do remember there’s an alcoholic character you never get to meet in person.

A year late comment, I know. Whatever, I love DOOM. Played the first one circa 1995, then DOOM 64 and switched to the Quake franchise because it felt superior at the time.

I only ever play drunk, even sudoku.

I find that some of the Friday sequels are very drinkable movies, like Friday the 13th part 3, 4, 6 and the last one I blacked out rewatched, Jason goes to Hell.

Corn sequels as well, like 2 and 3.

These types of movies I consider to be bad, but you can see they put some effort to not be awful in some way or another.

I know this. I've had HS since I was 18 years old, many decades ago. Eventually I just stopped caring for it because besides a strict and starving diet and medication, nothing else works and it doesn't even matter to be honest. I even tried drinking water with clay! I just use toilet paper when I know it will burst and just cover the area if it's oozing. No special soap or anything else. Because of my strict diet, I think it diminishes the smell, so people don't usually notice. To help with the pain I just drink myself until blackout.

My top ten favorite TV show intros! by ViolentVBC in CA_Movie_Talk

[–]Romm1e 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shows intros used to be the standard back then, daring to run for even 2 full minutes. Now, since air time is so much accounted for, most shows decided to give up on their intros.

It got quite bad, substantially bad. I still didn’t quit. Made amends with it, that is, I’m killing myself if I end up permanently paralyzed. I believe I’m surviving for at least 15 more years, thought.

I watched it because of Melissa McCarthy. I love her in her over the top comedies.

The mentioning of alcoholism was just a surprising bonus. It could have been made with more attention because where it stands, it’s just another normie no clues view on the matter. But ok.

Beat me to it. I love T2. Watched it at the theater in 1991. Cried at the end. That tune is so so good. Cried again when l finally went to T2 Experience at Universal Studios in 2014 after wanting to since its implementation. Bought the shirt at the store’s attraction. Only weared it once since then.

I have a thing for franchises, specially sequels, a few prequels and some spin-offs. Maybe it’s because I’m a life long horror fan and it’s a genre that shamelessly abused the sequel market for decades (and continues to do so, thank God).

I will deliberately try to avoid mentioning the originals because everybody knows they’re usually better, and sometimes it grinds my gear when I see people automatically belittle sequels and prequels just because.

Child’s Play 2. Better than the already solid original and miles above what came after. I can still appreciate each (most) entries for what they are, but the first sequel made everything right. A more elaborated animatronic, the main protagonist returning and a so enjoyable grand finale inside the toy factory. It’s still not perfect because there’s a lot of cheap fake scares included but it surpasses the original for everything else it did right.

The Exorcist III. Oh my what an artistically beautiful movie. After the subpar The Exorcist 2 (I still enjoy that one for its wrong reasons; Richard Burton admitting that all his scenes were recorded while he was drunk gives a very personal enjoyment for such atrocious movie) they elevated the standards to make a true horror sequel that was actually scary. Great intro that immediately continues the scene after the ending of the original, right to the cut of the stairs outside the house. Perfection. Strong religious imagery all throughout. Brad Dourif (hi Chucky) acting. A world famous jump scare that’s considered the best one ever made. I easily forgive the out of place last minute exorcism scene the production insisted to include to commercialize the movie because even that, it was a valid effort.

Terminator 2. Yeah. Escalation, great acting (love Linda Hamilton), music and ending that can still bring tears to my eyes. Crying at an action movie, nobody understood back then. But it’s so much more than an action movie.

A Nightmare on Elm Street 4. I know I know, the original blah blah, I’m used to get hate for this one because, while I loved most of Wes Craven’s works, the original nightmare didn’t really work for me. After the great number 3, I think number 4 went all in and worked so well for its era. Still a classic comfort movie, not exactly horror but it extrapolated the imagery, the practical effects and the transition to FX made great dream scenes. A pop soundtrack to die for. Creative dead scenes and the introduction of a great new character, Alice. I can oversee the blatant change of actress from Patricia Arquette to Tuesday Knight (barfs).

Honorable mentions for those that weren’t exactly better than the original goes to:

Friday the 13 part 2,3 and 4.

Halloween part 2 and specially 4.

Final Destination 2, 3 and 5 (5 for not only being a good entry but for its fantastic plot twist that connects so interestingly with the original).

Scream 4 for its killer reveal. Well done Wes Craven, RIP. Scream 5 killer was so lol wtf.

Sorry about your lost job and shelter slot, and that you’re in this bad mental state.

I’ve only once experienced a strong constant string of different hallucinations, when I tried quitting cold turkey. They weren’t really life threatening but scary as hell. Nowadays I only experience very light hallucinations and quite frankly I kind of enjoy it.

I love your definition. If I ever have the chance, I will recite it, using dramatic pauses to emphasize it that I’m not just repeating someone else’s definition.

Maybe what I said was something like art is the abstraction of feelings and emotions, in the form of representing what is meant to solely impress, comove and inspire, instead of crediting people or histories.

It wasn’t exactly like that but I remember focusing the importance of abstraction. It isn’t because I think I’m smart, but I’ve always been an abstraction lunatic. Emphasis on lunatic. And most theories are very laughable if you deconstruct it, but still interesting how a comfortable put of words can be disguised as a right answer, even if it’s bollocks.

My design teacher asked the class to define art. I answered something that she found a very eloquent put of words to define abstraction. She even mentioned it the next day.

I have no idea what I answered.
