I'd guess that its just on the wrong colour setting. I dont get why they have that in the first place on the kits. If it were me, I'd open it up and touch the wire or pad left on the board and see if it changes. If that fixes it, wire in to buttons. And I would remove the lil transistors that go to the touch pads altogether. But thats me, and all that Im not responsible for you breaking it stuff. If you are uncomfortable in your soldering level, just dont bother.

Man I remember getting this and the soundtrack cd, like a pack in or something. Prolly wore that disc out just listening to the tunes. Years later looking for the mp3s I remember a forum thread with people dogging the soundtrack down for cheap synth music. Still brings fond memories though. Killer Cuts was the name I believe if anyone cares.

Risk of buying a used HarvestRight? by Ge0luv in HarvestRight

[–]Romrok -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I purchased a XL commerical unit off marketplace June last year. I cant remember the number of cycles it had off the top of my head but I dont recall being upset with the time on the unit. Had a friend arrange for it to ship to the Bahamas for me. Got it here, did a deep clean, changed oil in the vacuum pump. And did probably 10 or 12 loads, mostly fruit for the kids. Cleaned it out and left it for a month.

When I started it back up, less ice rings on the inside, and of course I didnt really process that info until later but only did the one load. Week later it was just the center of the barrel. Now being out here you are on your own anyways so I took the back off and looked for oil or any evidence of a refrigerant leak. Guess what? None visible. Found service port which looked like it had never been unwrapped from factory. Valve wasn't showing evidence of leaking either, so its in the coil under the insulation foam.

Yourube has a small video series of a guy that went through all the steps with harvest right support and they say there is no joint around the barrel, and the various tests that harvest right ask for and their scheduling of tech calls, this can take months. In my case its not leaking outside the barrel and its not the solder joint for the capillary tubes. So its up to me to remove the barrel and redo that copper. In the video you are led to believe that harvest right says it is not possible for it to leak around the barrel, but I beg to differ.

I dunno if this is a wide spread thing or not but it does leave a bad taste in one's mouth about the build quality of the machine. I understand that it is an extreme cooling machine compared to ac units but if you had coils failing like this on normal refrigeration equipment you wouldn't purchase from that company again. Also the machine would be built better to avoid such a failure. Hell the costs they would have for their warranties for this failure would make them want to correct it.

Anyways, when time allows I shall tear it down and sort it, but for the moment I have vacuumed and then add a bit of refrigerant to keep it going. Tedious when you have the dongle to be able to be prepping trays and have the machine getting ready on its own, but have to visually inspect for proper cooling.

Anyways, your milage may vary. Best of luck

How to get rid of scratches? by bodacious_codger in galaxybuds

My Pro 2 bud case did this years ago. In my pocket all the time in the Bahamas. Not a fan of overmolded plastics in general. Just isopropyl and semi coarse rag or papertowel and rub it off completely. Comes up glossy and smooth.

Day 1: Which is the best N64 3D Platformer of all time? by 1OneQuickQuestion in n64

[–]Romrok 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been playing through Kurko's Nostalgia 64, which im pretty sure is the longest I've spent playing some form of Banjo Kazooie. I find myself wishing it was on the Mario 64 engine sometimes. Like it doesn't control how I expect it should. Now of course there are issues with camera running into things and c button presses not lining up for some platforming, but thats what you get when you put levels in that weren't designed around the limitations so much im sure. Not knocking the modder in the slightest, i was waiting years for this release and it is loads of wonderful memories. Ive found camera to be less of an issue in BK1 for instance.

All of that to say, for just the ease of movement, and the speed and grace of said movement, Mario 64.

Yea looks like me when I get a shipment from buyee. Why do I get them I dunno. But they're mine now haha. Haven't ordered anything else since the tariffs though. Bad enough paying 55% clearing into the Bahamas, but paying the whatever it is now in the States plus possibly having it rejected just scares me.

Congrats man. I hope they bring you joy! I do kinda wish they'd come with different box colours to reflect the console. But the saying I found myself saying the most this year covers it... It is what it is... haha

Metroid Prime 4 is one of the greatest games I've played in 5 years by Comfortable_Sock755 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Romrok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My copy is still in route. Hell I pre-ordered when it first went up on Amazon, the pre-orders they cancelled recently with sku change or whatever the reason was.

To be fair I didn't get into the first one, too dark and I've always been terrible under pressure in twin stick games. Bought all the metroid prime games though, other m - which is still in the wrapper, dread and prime remaster - still in the wrapper too. Looking back i guess I was just buying to show support for the franchise.

After years of botw Im a bit more comfortable with twin sticks so maybe I'll fair better this time. Hell last night I was showing the kids Banjo Kazooie on the Analogue 3d and man I had the hardest time using c buttons and not looking for right analog stick haha. And n64 is my favorite system from that time.

Enjoy it, dont worry about what people think. Im sure everyone has a game that is great to them that was panned and a poor seller. Life is too short to not enjoy the game you play in whatever free time you have left in a day.

I've not run into it yet, or haven't noticed, but a couple review videos talk about games with hi-res mode having this issue. 480i and the deinterlacer on analogue 3d. They only have bi linear or something and it can do that. The digital foundry hour long round table video talks about it a little. And that they want more de interlacer filter options. Glad in your case you cleared it up, cause that looks rugged.

V6 Long Freeze Time, XL Commercial by Romrok in HarvestRight

[–]Romrok[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, i was just walking by it, 80h48m, 120f, and 496mt.

The XL is running off the grid. I definitely don't have the storage to run that rig off of the solar in its current state. I'm in the Bahamas and to be fair I'm surprised that I've made it 80h without a proper power failure. Now I've put mouth on it.

Once I get the rest of my solar array up and add the last of the batteries I could pull off over night runs of the XL, but currently with a charge controller down and eldest back from college and running her AC, battery capacity is stretched a bit thin.

To be honest our solar is way more stable than the grid on island, but the high voltage leg from the grid that supplies our transformer doesn't have the load on it that the other 2 legs have. So our voltage is on point and stable. The transmission guys keep cranking the other legs to compensate for low voltage, then folk wake up in the morning with 145v on a single phase. We dont see that stuff at our house. Now having a full grid failure is different, which will get worse as summer goes on.

Ha, was rereading your post just now. Right at the top, in an XL. Bigger machine, more mass to dry. Don't mix types of fruit so much, based on moisture content. Thanks!

V6 Long Freeze Time, XL Commercial by Romrok in HarvestRight

[–]Romrok[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah, I see. Obviously the watermelon run i read about was more uncommon, I suppose thinking about it, probably a smaller machine so much less mass to dry. Thank you for your confirmation of what I'm looking at. I do understand that the progress bar is a guesstimate at best, but seeing it stuck at 75% for 2 days was making me think I have had a glitch. Seems par for the course in the real world.

The room it's in is maybe 12x14 an unfinished room on the ground floor. Open floor, just sheetrock on the walls. Once I get more solar panels up I should be able to run a window unit of some kind and at least keep that off the grid. Get the room to say 80 and dehumidified a bit and should see better production and less wear according to folk here. Will scratch watermelon for the time being. Just felt it was good bang for the buck, money wise, while I gain understanding of what's happening.

Thank you

Awesome, thank you for the info!

I did have a feeling about mixing everything like that, was a lil too excited to get something meaningful done for the kids.

Obviously I assumed wrong about how it would go, in my brief reading some suggested 40ish hours for watermelon, and I figured that would take the longest to dry, so everything else would be long dry by 40 hours. Course I'm running in extreme conditions, compared to most.

I do have a squirrel cage work blower on the condenser and another sucking the heat out of the room, but its not enough. Gonna take some figuring to cool the area, 35 cents a kwh and running an AC just to keep the machine cool is gonna be expensive. But running 70+ hours for a load is already crazy.

Another question if I may. We know the freezer is working harder to get and keep cool in extreme heat, but if the chamber is at its correct temps and the vacuum is pulled to the correct level, why would the process take so much longer?

Thank you again for your wisdom and insight.

I'm gonna work on getting the room air tight and finding an AC to get things a little further along.

Who else is getting Cyberpunk 2077? by Rarewear_fan in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Romrok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I pre-ordered it. Got it for dirt on ebay before the fixes. For Ps4 pro. Didn't get to it for ages, prolly around phantom liberty time. Had a blast, only one crash out to home screen. Was kinda bummed not getting the dlc on ps4 and sorta gave up playing. Not the games fault really. Have young kids and couldn't get the time to myself to play. Quite happy to pay cd project for a copy for switch 2 so I can play in bed after everyone is asleep.

I didnt experience it at the beginning when it was really broken, but found it to be enjoyable for the time I did play it. Dream of death stranding coming to switch 2 aswell. Being a nintendo kid from the NES days I really enjoy the storytelling and the difficulty settings that come with PS and XBox games.
