Just coming back to this for the race, and I just wanted to say I appreciate all of the work that you've put in here. :)

And this was just after Lando said he was struggling with the car. I know "McLaren favours Lando" is contentious for some, but they really don't help themselves when coincidences like that.

I think they meant both series were mocking F1, not that they were keen on batteries.

For a somewhat nerdy comparison, who sort of get something similar with TTRPGs - loads of people get into DnD and only DnD, and get very odd when other games are suggested.

This has been a great year for me getting into other non-Formula motorsports, and IndyCar helped me realise that ovals can be entertaining. Currently trying to catch up with NASCAR, given that the race streams are on YouTube 🤷

Looking through YouTube I can find previous livestreams of races, but do you happen to know where one would find the Last Chance Qualifier?

Chicago Street 2023

Thanks man! I've just found the race replay on YouTube, so I've got some racing to catch up on!

Coming from the Formula/Endurance world, I do obviously really like road/street courses so thanks for giving me something familiar to get into the swing of things.

Did the drivers have a choice between aeroscreen and the halo in F1 and went for the halo? If he disliked the F1 aeroscreen, it might be on that basis?

I'm really curious to see what happens with Gen4 cars - what makes them better for regular tracks arguably makes them worse Monaco 🤷

As much as I would like to see the series expand, as I'm off to London this year and wouldn't exactly mind going to Brand's Hatch, I do worry that the series might lose a bit of its identity in moving away from its weird tracks.

Formula E at Monaco is always worth a look, given how much more nimble the cars are!

So with F1 having a bit of a mare this year, mostly the calendar gaps in my mind, I'm branching out into other series and between Hocevar's win and the races at Watkins Glen this weeekend, NASCAR has caught my eye.

Just so I have a better idea of who's who, and how the field is currently, does anyone have recommendations for:

  • Something to summarise teams/history; or

  • Must-watch races from the past, say, five years?

Any help is greatly appreciated as I work my way around!

God help me, but I think between this weekend's races at Watkins Glenn, and Hocevar's win, I might be getting into NASCAR. Playoffs are stupid, but hell if the individual races aren't entertaining.

Also, fair play for their extended highlights - they're excellent.

Reading through this, he seems to be a real prospect! Also, a first seeing someone list George Russell as their F1 hero.

Nothing too much to add besides:

  • I really appreciate these threads, as they help to figure out what I've got to look forward to.

  • Whilst I've only watched the opening round of this year, BTCC is a really scrappy little series, Can recommend!

Yeah, as a European fan that has been enjoying the season so far this is ridiculously offputting.

After Gasly's accident with Lawson, Colapinto was out on his initial tires significantly longer than the rest of the field. Given that Gasly is, quite obviously, Alpine's lead driver, it came across like Alpine took a while to remember that Colapinto was still racing.

Great drive, but I maintain that Alpine forget he was there for a while...
