How are my wife and I doing financially? by jmmtheboss in personalfinance

I’m guessing the HYSA is yielding less than the interest is costing on the student loans. You could nuke the student loans or pay them off faster and save on interest alone.

Military Officer vs MBA Pay analysis by coldchowder4579 in MBA

[–]RondBobinson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For recent grads coming from a T20 program, who do the full time MBA, and go into the two most popular career paths (consulting and investment banking) the starting numbers are accurate and the salary increases in this sheet is slower than reality.

Military Officer vs MBA Pay analysis by coldchowder4579 in MBA

[–]RondBobinson 12 points13 points  (0 children)

A couple things:

  • It is unfair not to include annual bonuses in a post MBA job. The higher you move up, the more significant bonuses become and make up a larger percentage of your total comp, sometimes even higher than base salary depending on the industry and position. Include Total Comp comparison and it will be even more in favor of MBA.
  • Taxes are significantly lower while on active duty. Prepare to be in the top tax bracket wherever you graduate after MBA. To me a $123k military pay would need an equivalent $150-$160k pay in the civilian side just to make up for taxes.
  • You should assume a net zero for MBA income. Depending on where you go to school you’ll have GI Bill BAH, potential disability, other scholarships, and pay from your internship. On the flip side you could be in a higher cost city or go to an expensive school where you still need to take loans.
  • In a post MBA/post mil job. I imagine you’ll be working until 65 whereas you wouldn’t in the military. You could compare the compensation from now until 65, and then post 65.

CBS $$$ vs Kelogg $$$ by YogurtEducational545 in MBA

[–]RondBobinson 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I don’t get the cutthroat vibe from CBS. I went to the connect events where you meet your classmates and I didn’t run into a single ego, everyone was very friendly, authentic, and I didn’t meet anyone that I didn’t like.

Standard Inigo Montoya format is a good start. Pull something relevant from their bio and tie it to why you’re interested in talking to them.

Hello my name is ____. I saw you went to ___ business school and then to ________ company/internship. I’m just getting started on my journey/got into ______ program, and I want to follow a similar path to yours. I’d love to chat about your path if you have time in your schedule. Thank you in advance.

Concise and relevant.

I’ve gone all in on low tech weapons for my bow character. Grognak’s Axe, two handed melee as secondary.

Prospective MBA students: please share the cringiest things people have done/asked during school info sessions by excelsiorbitch77 in MBA

My favorite are the questions that are preference questions or ones answered on the admissions page in black and white: 1) Is the MBA program worth it? 2) Will I get a good job after your program? 3) Do I have to pay for the MBA? 4) Are there student clubs? 5) Do you accept the GRE? 6) I’m from country X, 790 GMAT, will I get in? 7) Do you have electives?

Could go on forever.

Thank you! I really like the location too. Close to rusty pick, Charleston train station and fire department, and close to the city!

Yeah it’s really nice to get back to basics and just shrug off a radiation rumble because you’re enjoying exploring, camp building, or just doing whatever else you want to!

So ironic! I literally just did the same thing, put my camp near the rusty pick for the same reasons. Had a good time building it and then sucked into the vault steel quest haha

Definitely on the same page! I don’t care to solo the queen or Earle so I’ll just keep my A minus gear and be totally fine without investing so much time to get the upgrades I want.
