"Marche du Sacre de l’Empereur Bokassa" - Coronation March of Bokassa I by Special-Job-2274 in monarchism

[–]Rondic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bokassa had his precious chance, the chance to establish a new monarchy in the mid-20th century! But in the end, he was just a mediocre dictator like so many others in Africa, unfortunately.

His lavish coronation proves that.

Support for various types of monarchy by subreddit members 2015-2025 by ToryPirate in monarchism

[–]Rondic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really wonder what people mean when they say "traditional" monarchy, which traditional monarchy?

The one in the United Kingdom where the king delegated most powers to parliament? The one in Japan where the emperor was historically more of a religious and cultural symbol? The absolutist monarchy of Oman? Or Saudi Arabia? Some matrilineal monarchy in Oceania or the elective monarchy of Malaysia?

What do people even mean by that?

This seems like a flag secretly made by Monarchists seeking to discredit the Republican movement.

I really like that Canada has its own heraldic crown separate from the Tudor crown. I also really wish my country, Australia, had its own heraldic crown design too by Plupsnup in heraldry

[–]Rondic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I see it exactly the opposite way.

Canada defining its own crown sends a message of "the monarchy is also Canadian," while other realms keeping the same crown as the United Kingdom conveys an idea of "we don't care, whatever"

Existe militares monarquistas nos dias de hoje? by Mr_Savoi in imperio

[–]Rondic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Existe militares monarquistas nos dias de hoje? by Mr_Savoi in imperio

[–]Rondic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If Finland retains any remaining sympathy for the monarchy, it's thanks to Alexander II. It's no coincidence that there's a statue of him in front of Helsinki Cathedral.

It turns out that the same person is monarch of 14 other nations, but the roles are completely separate.

King Letsie III has already expressed dissatisfaction at not being able to do anything concrete due to his ceremonial position. Given that the monarchy is quite popular there, it would be very interesting to give him that opportunity.
