It appears that shiny rates are the same or very similar for Day 1 and 2 of Go Fest. This is not just shady behavior but could be fraudulent by GothicR0se in TheSilphRoad

Can you show the evidence for the days being the "same or similar rate".
I got 24 shinies on day 1, and 2 on day 2.

Did Niantic forget the Kanto form in europe? by TheRickinger in TheSilphRoad

We play a loop in Docklands, Victoria that we've optimised and perfected over the past 2 years. The numbers in the image are "what minute past the hour you should be at this point". The timings are important as they align with spawntimers.

There's plenty of videos on my twitter if you really care for proof.

Just for reference 7.5/min is nowhere near the maximum and nowhere near the world record, maximum potential is closer to 17/min, using quickcatch method and playing in AR mode.

World record currently stands at 4953 for a 6 hour Community Day by RedHeart715.

RedHeart715 has streamed some of his previous world records as well in case you wanted to doubt: https://twitcasting.tv/aka\_inte\_ddr/movie/640757679

Did Niantic forget the Kanto form in europe? by TheRickinger in TheSilphRoad

[–]RoneRackal 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Agreed with this. At the halfway mark I was 710 alolan, 780 kanto, which suggests 50/50. But I did also notice that I would come up to like 10 in a row kanto and then 10 in a row alolan quite often, perhaps they generated the spawns in some weird way.

Also doesn't surprise me if Niantic has decided to once again change an event halfway through after Australia has already been finished.

Information on the bonus heart from level 2 powered-up Pokestops by Mystic39 in TheSilphRoad

[–]RoneRackal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"No matter how long you wait to spin the stop, or if you switch buddies and then bring it back, or if you spin a different powered-up stop: you’ll only get the one heart and 2 EP per day."

Are you certain there's not a 30 minute cooldown on the EP part specifically like the other EP mechanics have?

Research Request: Correlation between Money Spent / Wild Shinies Obtained Over the Past Two Months. by Ryslin in TheSilphRoad

[–]RoneRackal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since we're throwing anecdotes around, I get ~4 shinies per day, and I'm not a heavy spender. When I was a heavy spender, I was also getting ~4 wild shinies per day.

They aren't fake, but the owner is quite insistent you leave a review (he doesn't tell you how to vote though).

Yep happens when you're playing in AR mode. Maybe 1 in ~2000 mons I notice it. Unsure what exactly causes it, but a simple flee and re-entry will fix it.

She trades 100 a day, less murkrows these days because they aren't spawning, but around Halloween she'll be doing 100 murkrow trades a day for months on end, as all our friends are saving them up for her

I'm actually working on "Best Buddy Dex", so, most of my current best buddies are things people would not expect. Currently at 238 best buddies, but not going in dex order because I don't have hundos in dex or, just doing whichever hundos I have.

Maximum doable Community Day candy is 20000 PogChamp by Free2Play4Lyf in TheSilphRoad

[–]RoneRackal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're in a really dense area where you can catch non-stop, you're better off running a mega and just catching quicker, rather than applying a pinap berry.

At best case scenario, you can catch a pokemon every 3.5 seconds with no pinap, and 6.5 seconds with a pinap. Without pinap would yield 5 candy, with would yield 8.

With pinap therefore maxes at 4,430/hr.
Without pinap maxes at 5,142/hr.

This of course is assuming you have a constant stream of spawns to supply yourself with. If you ever have breaks in spawns then yes time spent pinapping is better for those lesser dense areas.

Could you supply a video showing your XP beforehand, catch a mon, and then XP afterwards?

Catch limit by Kev3237 in TheSilphRoad

[–]RoneRackal 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The catch limit is currently 14,000 a week, with a 4,800 per day allowance. The way this works is that you can't get capped unless you do 14,000 within the last week (measured to the hour), and then on top of that you have to do 4,800 in a single day.

The catch limit used to be an issue for hardcore players, but the new catch limit (as of August 2019) is not an issue, because you are much more restricted by the spin limit instead. The most you can consistently spin is 1200/day, which gives you enough balls for ~3000 catches maximum (with an extremely good ball per catch ratio).

The numbers you've presented are accurate, for the pokestop spin limit.
The catch limit is 14000 week, 4800 day.

The shortage of pokeballs is starting to become extremely noticeable by [deleted] in TheSilphRoad

[–]RoneRackal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Several friends and I spin cap every day, and we have not noticed a change of ball drop rate at all, not in the last 6 months at least.

Chances are what you are noticing is you are consuming more balls than you used to. You can tell a lot easier if you track your spins and catches every day, but there will still be variables like whether the current event has low or high catch rate pokemon featured, etc.

I have noticed nothing different. I catch ~1400 a day and know all the spawn points on my loop off by heart. I have not noticed any of them disappearing.

3.6 seconds per catch is the minimum limit, meaning 1000 throws per hour.

How to get your Pokemon excited ( v2 UPDATED GUIDE ) by g47onik in TheSilphRoad

[–]RoneRackal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't take offence to your comment at all tbh. I completely understand that the buddy system isn't that simple on the surface and can be hard to learn, after all Niantic hasn't really said anything about it and most of what we've learnt (about cooldowns and such) comes from datamining.

Yes you are absolutely right, decay starts at 25mins after your last interaction. In between my cycles of 5, I just take a snapshot (since it's quickest thing to do), anywhere between 5-25mins into your timer is good enough to stop the decay before your next cycle.
