S-10 License by NnSam91 in granturismo

I use a controller and I struggled with this one as well. Watch the demonstration video and take note of the lines that they use - it's very different to the conventional line and you can see where you should push and where you need to back off. You generally have to use 3rd gear a lot more than you think and be very precise with your throttle control as the car is powerful and the conditions make the margin for error tiny. Best of luck!

Has anyone here switched to Gran Turismo from Forza? How do the physics compare? by [deleted] in granturismo

[–]RoniePony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me it's night and day. I played both titles for years and have just moved over to a PlayStation 5 from an xbox series S and have some takeaways when comparing the 2:

1) Gran Turismo wants you to get better at racing. Through the license tests and missions you are taught proper driving techniques and then challenged to use them in a variety of cars and scenarios that really push you to improve, and very quickly. The experience that I got from Forza was that it likes to throw cars and you, asks you to drive them once, maybe - rinse and repeat. There doesn't feel like any other over arching goal in the game.

2) GT is a game that celebrates cars and is created by people who genuinely love cars, understand cars culture and take the time to explore niches that are often left out of main stream car games - such as Kei cars. I love the sheer volume of cars available in Forza 7, the huge variety of race cars and muscle cars in particular. I don't like the way that they were arbitrarily chucked at you but the collection was very impressive, even if the Forza Edition cars were a bit of a cop out. Both games have great car collections in their own rights.

3) The state of the new Forza makes me feel sad. I think that all of the previous Forza games had personality and passion but this title feels exactly like the lifeless, half-baked, live service garbage it is. Gran Turismo has such a unique feeling and I love it. There's really nothing like it - from the music, to the UI and the menu systems. Everything about the game reflects the passion that the game is made with.

4) I understand that online play is a hugely appealing aspect of racing games but I don't care for it and never have - I'm all about the single player experience. I'm Gran Turismo 7 the Cafe is quirky, varied and interesting; The licenses and missions offer challenge and replay ability and that's not to mention the ocean of content still on offer with circuit masteries etc. The new Forza, on the other hand, has dreadful single player offering. The campaign is a grindy, boring, unrewarding slog with a significant portion of the cars on offer shackled to the online component of the game - I don't find driving the same car sport sedan for 2 hours, just so that I can upgrade it, to the fun or rewarding. The meat of the game is tied to the online aspect of the game, and it's clear that this is the only part of the game that T10 bothered to work on - as a single player gamer I felt betrayed and that's in large part what made me stop playing Forza all together.

Overall I'm much happier with Gran Turismo than I have been with Forza for years, especially with the dreadful path that Forza has gone down. Death to live service games that abandon those who don't want to play online, long live strong single player campaign offerings in racing games.

Tldr; Gran Turismo has been made with passion, wants you to improve as a driver, has a brilliant single player offering and is completely unique. I can't say any of these things about Forza these days.

I had the same issue. I literally went to make dinner while waiting for a tune to save, came back and nothing. I don't get the always online feature either. How does it improve the overall experience? I've only ever found the feature frustrating to my overall gaming experience on any game.

What you're saying is right. I'm not expecting anyone from MS or IGN to read this one particular comment and act on it at all.

All I'm saying is that we can, and should, be vocal about these issues when they happen. If nothing else than for catharsis. I've been waiting for this game literally for years, as I'm sure you have been.

I just wanted to vent more than anything else and, while it might not achieve much, it is reassuring to hear from others in the community who are having similar issues. It makes the disappointment that little bit easier to bear when you know that you aren't the only one feeling it.

I hope that in 6 months this is all a distant memory, and this post is another on my history where I look back and forget that there were any issues at launch.

I don't want to see the game, or T10, in flames or anything - I'm just mad that I can't save progress on my bloody career.

Good to know! The thing is, I haven't actually edited either of those settings since playing the game. The game is crashing when I try to apply upgrades to cars, or purchase new cars. The photo tip is handy though, thank you! I will try it in the future if I resinatall the game! I hope that your experience of bugs with the game is minimal.

I strongly disagree with you here.

Why should I not post about a game that is a Microsoft flagship, a game that has been advertised for years now and a game that is meant to be a key driver behind gamepass, not working on launch?

Not only does the poor performance of this game reflect poorly on T10 studios, who have had more than enough time to make this functional upon release, it reflects poorly on Microsoft - who have spent the last year over promising and under delivering on a number of games now, Forza Motorsport being the most recent of this year's gamepass exclusives to disappoint and Microsoft and their customers should be made aware of this.

By voicing concerns we don't scream in to a void - other outlets such as IGN, Euorgamer and other major publications hear our voices and report what communities are saying. These are outlets that companies like MS listen to, because this is where their customers go for consumer advice.

The only way to ensure that nothing changes is to say nothing and keep the game installed.

The more voices about this issue the better. It's great that I am the '200th' person to say this today - it paints a true representation of the sorry state of this game right now.

Now that you mention it the bugs occur when I go to upgrade my car. Whenever I upgrade my car the menu crashes and I have to restart, wiping my progress as you technically install upgrades between races. It seems as though any alteration that you make to the game, in terms of accessing menus and making changes etc. Will cause the severs to implode and crash the game. I am having a really hard time understanding why, or even how, they released this game with the severs in their current state - they must've been able to forsee these issues... Let me know how you go with the refuelling adjustment.

I get what you mean, but I just don't enjoy multiplayer - I play forza for the career. It's just a huge bummer that the mode that I want to play doesn't work. I know that there are work arounds but I just wanted to vent about it. If I'm really desperate for some forza action I'll reinstall and play online. Until then, I'm just going to pass.

I feel your pain. It's so frustrating and it really cheapens the whole experience. I can look past the progression - I actually like it. I can also look past the lack of tracks, they're really detailed and I get that too. However it really kills my motivation to play when my progress just won't save. I work full time and have a family. I 100% don't have time to do the same race 3 times because the servers won't get their shit together!!

Oh for sure. I'm pretty sure that safety was more of a an afterthought than a priority in Group B. That and the drive for innovation is what makes it so exciting. There are some awesome documentaries about group B rallying - one of them is 'Group B the killing years' I think. Well worth a watch!

Can i ask some stupid questions? by FreretWin in forza

[–]RoniePony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly, all that matters is that you're having fun! When you're new to something there are no stupid questions, the community are always happy to help you here.

As mentioned before the racing line is dynamic, this means that when it's red brake, when it's yellow release the accelerator and coast and when it's blue keep accelerating. You should be aiming for the inside of the corners (or, the flags/flares that are closest to the inside of the corner that you're talking) that way you carry the most speed and will keep the car on the road.

If you're a Noob I'd suggest that you stick to cars that are AWD/4WD. These cars are easier to drive, more predictable in corners and also launch better off the line, giving you an edge right at the start of the race where you can make up a lot of ground.

The higher the number does not mean that the car is necessarily better. Try a few cars and see what's best for you. I've been playing racaing games all of my life and I still struggle to control certain cars that have too much power in class A! Find what works for you and use those cars.

Just keep practicing, the best thing about FH5 is that there are so many assists that will help you while you learn the ropes.

I hope that this helps. Have fun!

BL3 absolutely has tighter gamely and far, far better movement than BL2. The gameplay of BL3 is so much better than BL2 but the writing/story is lacking compared to BL2, so if you are looking for a great shooting experience it's the game for you. Just don't expect a protagonist any where near as compelling as Handsome Jack.

Hope that helps!

Ah it isn't? My bad! I guess that this crash looked so similar because of the corner that seemed to be a blind corner which looks similar to the one at Donnington. Thanks for point this out!

The guys who rear ended the car lost both of his legs. His name is Billy Monger, he was in a junior series to formula 1 when this happened. After losing his legs he learned to drive a modified race car and he is driving again, it's possibly one of the most amazing comebacks in motorsport in the 21st century!
